ATLAS DE LA MORTALITÉ PAR CANCER EN FRANCE MÉTROPOLITAINE ÉVOLUTION 1970-2004 173 GLOSSAIRE CÉPIDC DISCRÉTISATION Le « centre d’épidémiologie sur les causes médicales de décès » (Cepidc), est intégré à l'Inserm. Ses missions essentielles sont la production annuelle de la statistique des causes médicales de décès en France (540 000 décès par an), la diffusion des données et les études et recherches sur les causes médicales de décès. Le CépiDc est Centre Collaborateur OMS pour la Famille des Classifications Internationales en langue Française (CIM). Terme générique pour désigner le choix du groupement par classe d’une série statistique. Nombre de cas de maladies apparue, ou de nouveaux patients pendant une période donnée et pour une population déterminée. Au sens plus général, nombre de nouveaux cas de maladie survenant dans une population définie au cours d’une période donnée. CERTIFICATION DES DÉCÈS LISSAGE La certification des décès est encadrée par le format du certificat de décès, rempli par les médecins, et par le concept de cause initiale de décès. Le certificat de décès comprend deux parties, la première partie comporte notamment l’identification de la commune de la personne décédée, l’autre partie étant dédiée à la spécification des causes du décès. Terme général utilisé pour décrire des méthodes qui permettent de réduire des irrégularités dans un ensemble de données. L’arrondissement, le krigeage et les moyennes mobiles comptent parmi les techniques de lissage. Dans cet atlas, seules les données des cartes cantonales « tout cancer » ont été lissées. INCIDENCE MORTALITÉ PRÉMATURÉE CIM – CLASSIFICATION INTERNATIONALE DES MALADIES Mortalité avant 65 ans, limite utilisée par Eurostat. Classification de maladies spécifiques et de groupes de maladies déterminées par un groupe d’experts. Dans la CIM 10, la classification compte 12 000 rubriques classées en 21 chapitres principaux. Cette révision a été publiée par l’OMS en 1990. RATIO STANDARDISÉ CODIFICATION DES CAUSES MÉDICALES DE DÉCÈS La codification des causes de décès est réalisée par des codeurs-nosologistes et s’appuie sur la classification internationale des maladies, permettant ainsi un certain niveau de qualité et de comparabilité internationales des données. La codification comporte deux activités distinctes : l’attribution d’un code à chaque maladie, traumatisme ou cause externe, mentionnés sur le certificat de décès et la sélection et le codage de la cause initiale du décès. Rapport entre le taux standardisé dans un lieu et le taux moyen national auquel on attribue la valeur 100. Cet indicateur permet de visualiser les zones de surmortalité, au dessus de 100 (en rouge sur les cartes) et de sous mortalité en dessous de 100 (en bleu sur les cartes). STANDARDISATION Ensemble de techniques permettant de contrer les effets des différences d’âge (ou d’autres variables de confusion) lorsque que l’on compare deux ou plusieurs populations. Dans cet atlas, les taux et ratios de mortalité sont toujours standardisés sur l’âge. Le taux de mortalité est le rapport du nombre de décès de l'année à la population totale moyenne de l'année. Dans cet atlas les taux de mortalité par cancer sont exprimés pour 100 000 habitants. TAUX DE VARIATIONS ANNUELS MOYENS Augmentation ou diminution annuelle moyenne des effectifs de décès, exprimée en pourcentage. STRUCTURE SPATIALE Caractérisation de l’agencement, de la construction des éléments qui composent un espace. UNITÉ SPATIALE Désigne tout objet localisé (zone d’emploi, région), auquel on associe une information sémantique (taux, effectifs, ratio…) en vue d'effectuer une analyse de la distribution géographique du phénomène étudié, ici la mortalité par cancer.
