Erreur sur la Forme Verbale : traduction d'un infinitif française : Base Verbale, V-ing ou TO+V ?
- Après un auxiliaire MODAL
= BV
ex : a global city must have schools
- Après TO
= BV
ex : it's good to be here !
- Après WHY
= BV
ex : Why bother ? (pourquoi s'embêter?)
- Après HOW
= TO+V
ex : My mother taught me how to cook.
(Ma mère m’a appris à cuisiner.)
- Après une préposition (without, by, of, ...) = V-ing
ex : She protested by refusing to give her
bus seat to a white man.
- En position de sujet ou complément d'un verbe = TO+V ou V-ing (→ verbe au singulier, voir 1)
Cela correspond en français à un infinitive; ATTENTION donc à ne pas se contenter d’une BV :
ex : Living in the city is exciting.
(Vivre en ville est exaltant.)
- Après un autre verbe
= TO+V ou V-ing
ex : He refused to be treated as a slave.
Les verbes suivants peuvent être suivis d’un second verbe :
prefer to/V-ing – decide to – want to – choose to – (would) like to –
hope to – need to – refuse to – continue to - go V-ing…
exemples:
I think opening an amusement park is a cool idea (sujet du verbe)
