Je sais rapporter les propos de quelqu’un :
le discours indirect avec verbes introducteurs au présent
1. Quel pronom? Quand le verbe introducteur est au présent, il n’y a pas de modification de temps dans la
subordonnée. Mais attention aux transformations des pronoms personnels et des déterminants possessifs (qui
doivent s’accorder avec le sujet du verbe introducteur) et donc attention à la conjugaison des verbes !
 Pronoms sujets
Ex: "I live in London"  She says she lives in London.
“I went to London in 2006.” → He says he went to London in 2006.
"We're going to London"  She says they are going to London.
 Pronoms compléments
Ex: "I don't like you", she says.  She says she doesn’t like me.
"We don't like you", they say.  They say they don’t like us.
● Déterminants possessifs
Ex: “It is my brother John” → She says it is her brother John.
2. Repères spatio-temporels: attention aux modifications des repères spatio-temporels.
- Here devient there ;
- today devient that day ;
- yesterday devient the day before ;
- a week ago devient a week before;
- next week devient the following week;
- last week devient the week before;
- tomorrow devient the day after ou the next day.
3. Les questions : dans une question rapportée au style indirect, on ne fait pas d’inversion auxiliaire-sujet (L'ordre
des mots doit être identique à celui d'une phrase affirmative) et on ne met pas de point d’interrogation.

 Yes/No questions : la question rapportée est introduite par if.
Ex: "Are you English?", she asks me.  She asks me if I am English.

 Wh-questions: le mot interrogatif est conservé.
Ex: "What time is it?" he asks.  He asks what time it is.
"Where do you live?", he asks me.  He asks me where I live.
4. L’impératif: au style indirect, un phrase à l’impératif est introduite par “to”
Ex : « Stop talking » → He tells us to stop talking.
5. Remarque: Say  Tell
Avec say, l'énonciateur rapporte ce qui a été dit. (Ex: He says hello.)
Avec tell, l'énonciateur rapporte ce qui a été dit et à qui. (Ex: He tells me he is English.)
