Directives for the composition of the qualifying exam committee
(UNIL students)
Usual composition (4 members):
1. Thesis Director: UNIL-accredited professor, PD and MER of FBM (in rare cases MA)
2) PhD program Committee member: your selected PhD committee member in the list:

3) 3rd person from the Phd program: typically a CIIL group leader from an independent
laboratory from UNIL, CHUV, LUDWIG, etc…
4) Expert B: expert from outside of the CIIL: for the first exam (6-9 months) it is not necessary.
The exam committee will be composed by the thesis advisor and two
other members of the program (1, 2 & 3). The exam consists of a
short written report (4 pages maximum), an oral presentation
(approximately 30 min), and a discussion. The report must be
submitted to the members of the thesis committee two weeks before
the exam.
