III. Required documents for application
a. A cover letter indicating for which program of study the application is being made
and description of the motivation to join the program
b. A detailed curriculum vitae (CV) outlining academic experience, any research
experience and accomplishments, industry experience, specific skills, and outside
interests of the applicant
c. Notarized Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees and transcripts
d. Recommendation letters from at least two academic referees who are knowledgeable
about the applicant, that attest to the preparation of the applicant and the likelihood
for success in a Ph.D. program.
e. Support letter from employer (if any).
f. Copies of valid identification card and/or passport.
g. Sponsorship letter from an organization (if any).
h. Applicants from countries where English is not the medium of instruction must
provide an English proficiency certificate from a relevant body or institution in their
respective countries.
i. Summary Research Proposal (Concept Note) relevant to the PhD degree sought. The
concept note should state the research problem, the purpose and objectives of the
research, the methodology, the expected outcome and its expected impact in the area
of study.

V. Funding
1. Full Scholarship opportunities (living expenses, tuition fees, and return air ticket) are
available on a competitive basis (highest marks) for 4 eligible female candidates from
Eastern and Southern Africa Region
2. Other Selected applicants will be self-Sponsored.

3. Fill the Biographical Form and click (Save) at the end you will get “Your Student ID
Reference Number”. Please keep this ID Number as it will be your ID identification for
all transactions at UR
