Le verbe
AVOIR
(to have)
Can you remember what a verb is? So can
somebody refresh our memory!
They are doing words.
What do you think AVOIR is?
AVOIR is not a doing word, it is what we call an
auxiliary verb. It means it is a very important verb
which is going to be extremely helpful and useful.
Just think about how many times you use TO HAVE
in English.
Can somebody remind us of what a pronoun
is?
It is a word we use in order to replace a
noun.
Je (I) Nous (we)
Tu (you, one person)Vous (you, polite)
Il (he) Ils (they, boys)
Elle (she) Elles (they, girls)
In French (and in English as a matter of fact), verb
endings will change depending on who is doing the
action. We use the subject pronouns and we call it
a conjugation:
Ihave
You have
He has
She has
We have
You have
They have
J’ ai
Tu as
Il a
Elle a
Nous avons
Vous avez
Ils ont
Elles ont
À vous!
