Fiches de révision Chapter 1: Le present indicative, L’impératif, l’infinitif, et le faire causatif 1) Le present indicative L’usage -To tell about what is happening now -To make generalizations or speak about habitual action -To indicate what is going to happen in the news future Regular -er verbs (parler, manger, aimer, etc.) ex: Nous écrivons sur nos copies. ex: Les élèves aiment les vacances. ex: J’obtiens mon diplôme. For the impérative of-er verbs, drop the-s of the tu form; nous and vous are the same as the présent Pronoun Ending Example Tu es Danse! Nous ons Dansons! Vous ez Dansez! Vous Sachez! 3) L’infinitif L’usage -When one verb follows another, with no conjunction between them, the first verb is conjugated and the second verb remains an infinitive ex: Je veux suivre ce cours -There are two tenses for the infinitive: le présent et le passé. Le passé est formé avec l'infinitif avoir ou être + le participe passé du verbe principal Present Infinitive Past infinitive étudier avoir étudié rendre avoir rendu rentrer être rentré(e)(s) s’inscrire s’être inscrit(e)(s) 4) Faire Causatif L’usage -to cause some thing to happen or to make someone do something -Utiliser le verbe faire + l’infinitive Examples: -Le propriétaire fait travailler son fils -Tu la leur fais manger -Ce film me fait pleurer
