On November 12th, Michael Wadleigh (Oscar Winner, 'Woodstock') gave a
presentation to an audience of over 400 (including VIPs from the Chinese Embassy, The
European Commission, The Club of Rome, and Eurocontrol). He focused on climate
change - highlighting the sharp contrast between the depth of scientific data and the
shallowness of the political response.
Before an open debate involving the students, Michael presented the Ecological Ethics
group in the school with a framed copy of a document that they managed to
get President Barroso to

recognise the problem of climate change, and now several groups have been set up on
'Facebook' by about 100 students in s6 and s7 to encourage Mr. Hollande, Mr. Cameron,
Mrs. Merkel, Mr. Junker and the Pope, to follow his example before the Climate
Conference in Lima on December 1st.

Le 12 novembre passé, Michael Wadleigh (qui a remporté un Oscar pour « Woodstock »)
a donné une conférence à l’EEB II devant un public de plus 400 invités (notamment des
hauts dignitaires de l’Ambassade chinoise, de la Commission européenne, du Club de
Rome et d’Eurocontrol). La conférence portait principalement sur le changement
climatique, soulignant le contraste marqué entre le foisonnement de données
scientifiques et le manque de réponse politique.
Avant le débat avec les élèves, Michael a offert au groupe d’Ethique écologique de l’école
une copie encadrée du document qu’ils étaient parvenu à faire signer au Président
Barroso :

Ce document a demandé à M. Barroso de reconnaître clairement le problème du
changement climatique et divers groupes ont été créés sur Facebook par une centaine
d’élèves de S6 et de S7 afin d’encourager M. Hollande, M. Cameron, Mme Merkel, M.
Junker et le Pape à suivre son exemple avant la Conférence sur le Climat qui aura lieu à
Lima le 1er décembre.
