Below are the full lyrics of the Aude Gagnier song (which is to the tune of Keane / Lilly Allen
'Somewhere only we know'
Gold:
Have the learners simply listen to the song (without the need for the gap fill exercise) and ask
them to listen out for any words that they might be able to recognise, focusing perhaps on
cognates (mots identiques) and near cognates (mots similaires).
Then present them with the gap fill task to the learners and ask them to listen carefully to the
song x 2 with the aim of filling in the missing French words.
Have the learners then try to work out some of the meaning in English before showing them
the video one last time with the English subtitles to allow them to check. This could be done
independently or in pairs.
Silver:
Have the learners simply listen to the song (without the need for the gap fill exercise) and ask
