Mesdames et Messieurs,
I would like to use this brochure to present the members of the
business delegation from the German Federal State of RhinelandPalatinate. The companies from different sectors present high-quality
products and services. They are interested in establishing business
relationships with East African partners.
The countries of Kenya and Rwanda offer excellent opportunities and
potential for the economy of Rhineland-Palatinate. Kenya is considered a driving force for finance and trading in East Africa. The Kenyan
market is booming and has numerous business opportunities to offer.
At the same time, business cooperation improves opportunities for
sustainable development.
The partnership between Rwanda and Rhineland-Palatinate has
existed since 1982. I am especially pleased to see that business representatives from Rhineland-Palatinate are making a renewed trip to
Rwanda. By extending our partnership to include business exchanges
we are giving it new, valuable stimuli. For some years now, Rwanda has been undergoing a strong upturn, and is considered a safe,
business-friendly location for African investment.
Rhineland-Palatinate is characterised by SMEs with reliable, highly
trained skilled workers, whose ability and flexibility play a role in
the high quality of the world-famous “Made in Germany” brand. It
is a matter of particular concern to me to generate advantages for
everyone involved in this international exchange of expertise and
experience and thus to help maintain quality of life, safeguard against
job losses and protect our living environment. I wish the participants
all the best and hope that they make valuable business contacts.
C‘est avec plaisir que je vous présente, dans cette brochure, les
membres de la délégation économique du Land de Rhénanie-Palatinat. Les entreprises de secteurs variés y exposent leurs produits
et prestations de qualité. Celles-ci ont manifesté leur intérêt envers
des relations commerciales avec des partenaires est-africains.
Le Kenya et le Rwanda offrent des possibilités et un potentiel exceptionnels pour l‘économie rhénano-palatine. Le Kenya est réputé
moteur des finances et du commerce en Afrique de l‘Est. En effet,
le marché est en plein essor et offre de nombreuses opportunités
commerciales. Et dans le même temps, la collaboration économique
améliore les chances de développement sur le long terme.
Le partenariat entre le Rhénanie-Palatinat et le Rwanda existe
depuis 1982. C‘est donc avec une joie toute particulière que je vois
une nouvelle fois des représentants de l‘économie rhénano-palatine
se déplacer au Rwanda. Cela nous permet de redonner un élan
de valeur au partenariat puisque l‘échange s‘étend désormais au
domaine économique. Le Rwanda connaît depuis quelques années
une forte croissance et est réputé site d‘investissement africain sûr
et favorable à l‘économie.
Le Land de Rhénanie-Palatinat est caractérisé par ses PME employant une main-d‘œuvre fiable et très bien qualifiée contribuant, grâce
à ses performances et à sa flexibilité, à l‘excellente qualité du label
mondialement connu « Made in Germany ».
Il me tient particulièrement à cœur de générer des avantages pour
toutes les parties prenantes grâce à l‘échange international de
savoir-faire et d‘expériences et ainsi, de contribuer au maintien de
la qualité de vie, des emplois et de protéger les habitats. À tous les

The partnership between Rhineland-Palatinate and Rwanda is
developing more and more into an internationally recognised model for decentral, efficient, citizen-friendly cooperation
between a European region and one of the 54 African countries.
The outlines for this partnership with Rwanda were created by the
state government of Rhineland-Palatinate in agreement with the
German federal government. Those outlines have been filled in
with the many activities of the state‘s citizens.
Le partenariat entre le Rhénanie-Palatinat et le Rwanda ne cesse
d‘évoluer et est en passe de devenir un modèle reconnu au niveau
international de collaboration proche des citoyens, décentralisée
et efficace entre une région d‘Europe et l‘un des 54 états africains.
Le Gouvernement du Land de Rhénanie-Palatinat a créé le cadre
du partenariat avec le Rwanda en accord avec le gouvernement
fédéral. Il y est satisfait par les diverses activités des citoyennes et
citoyens.
In cooperation with civil society in Rhineland-Palatinate and
Rwanda, numerous positive examples have been developed of
grassroots partnership, self-help and individual responsibility. Today, Rwanda is one of Africa‘s most economically active countries.
An average annual economic growth of roughly 7 per cent means
that it is becoming an increasingly interesting subject of corporate
cooperation and a future target for investors.
La coopération entre la société civile du Rhénanie-Palatinat et du
Rwanda a donné naissance à de nombreux exemples positifs de
partenariat de base, d’entraide et de responsabilité individuelle.
Le Rwanda est actuellement l‘un des pays à l‘économie la plus
dynamique d‘Afrique. Sa croissance économique moyenne oscillant
autour des 7 % ne cesse de renforcer sa position de partenaire privilégié des entreprises et de destination de prédilection future pour
les investisseurs.
In Rwanda there is a spirit of optimism. Rwanda gave itself a clear
target for development in the form of Vision 2020, and so far that
target has been met. Rwanda is a very young country, with 50 per
cent of the population younger than 20. As well as the traditional
focuses of the partnership, such as education, healthcare, equality
for men and women or the fight against poverty, entrepreneurial
initiatives are now popular, aiming at improving the infrastructure
and creating a forward-looking, sustainable economy. Rwanda is
the gateway to the East African community, and thus to a market
of over 140 million people. This is a time of new beginnings. It is
worth being there.

Il règne une atmosphère de renouveau au Rwanda. En lançant le
programme Vision 2020, le Rwanda s‘est fixé des objectifs clairs en
faveur du développement. Et s‘y est tenu jusqu‘ici. Le Rwanda est
un pays très jeune. La moitié de la population a moins de 20 ans.
Outre les priorités actuelles du partenariat tels que les domaines
de la formation, des soins de santé, de l’égalité entre les hommes
et les femmes ou de la lutte contre la pauvreté, des initiatives
entrepreneuriales sont nécessaires pour renforcer l’infrastructure
et une économie durable axée sur l’avenir. Le Rwanda est le portail
donnant accès à la communauté est-africaine et ainsi à un marché
fort de plus de 140 millions de personnes. L‘honneur est aux entrepreneurs. Cette opportunité en vaut la peine.

The Energieagentur Mittelrhein (EAM) was founded in 2005 by
Dietmar Rieth as a service company. It offers tenders for electricity
and gas, as well as qualified energy consultations and redevelopments for residential and non-residential buildings, industrial and
commercial enterprises and municipalities. The consultant is part of
a nationwide network (www.den-ev.de) of more than 700 qualified energy consulting companies and their state spokesperson in
Rhineland-Palatinate.
The EAM gives advice on energy and material efficiency within the
framework of international standards, e.g., DIN EN ISO 50001, in
addition to dealing with the planning and implementation of solar
power systems for grid operation or stand-alone systems as well as
LED street lighting.
Advice is also provided for international electricity grid operators
entering the market as well as regarding analysis, tenders and negotiation of energy procurement contracts on the German market. The
consultant is included in the relevant expert lists in the Federal State
and in Germany (dena, BAFA, kfW, TÜV, EOR, EA NRW, etc.).
Dietmar Rieth has been working as a volunteer for more than 20
years in the Rhineland-Palatinate/Rwanda partnership, during
which he was a representative for 10 years and has now been on the
Management Board of the Federal State partnership association for
more than 5 years. During the current set-up of 15 crafts centres and
the establishment of the dual system together with the Chamber of
Crafts in Koblenz, he has provided significant impetus for an economic cooperation with Rwanda.
L’Energieagentur Mittelrhein (EAM) a été créée en 2005 en tant
qu’entreprise de prestations de services par Dietmar Rieth. Elle
propose depuis lors des appels d’offres dans le domaine du gaz et
de l’électricité ainsi que des conseils énergétiques qualifiés et des
rénovations d’immeubles à usage résidentiel et non résidentiel, aux
entreprises industrielles et commerciales et aux communes. Ce
consultant fait partie d’un réseau fédéral (www.den-ev.de) de plus de
700 agences qualifiées de conseil en énergie et est son représentant
en Rheinland Pfalz.
L’EAM est active dans le domaine du conseil en efficacité énergétique et matérielle dans le cadre des normes internationales, comme
p. ex. selon DIN EN ISO 50001, de la planification et l’utilisation
d’installations solaires pour la gestion des réseaux ou des installations autonomes ainsi dans les éclairages publics à DEL. L‘EAM
agit en qualité de consultant lors de l’entrée sur le marché pour les
exploitants de réseaux électriques à l’échelle internationale et pour
l’analyse, les appels d’offres et le courtage en matière de contrats de
fourniture d’énergie sur le marché allemand. Ce consultant est répertorié sur les listes d’experts compétents du Land et de la fédération

Dietmar Rieth est engagé à titre bénévole depuis plus de 20 ans dans
le partenariat Rhénanie-Palatinat/Rwanda, dont 10 ans en tant que
député et maintenant depuis 5 ans en tant que membre du conseil
d’administration du comité de jumelage. Dans le cadre du développement actuel de 15 centres d’artisanat et du développement du système dual, en coopération avec la chambre des métiers de Koblenz, il
a donné des impulsions décisives pour une coopération économique

A traditional family-run sign making company, Ernst Wenzelmann
Schilderfabrik GmbH produces industrial signs made of metal
and plastic, front panels and graphic overlays, assemblies and
labels for various fields of application. Our products are used in
mechanical engineering and plant construction, infrastructural
projects and electrical engineering, or also as smart front panels
for interior finishing.
We combine individual process and materials development with
customer service aimed deliberately at each individual client,
along with lean processes and agile product management. The
company is constantly being extended on the basis of tradition,
quality and responsibility for the product, for people and for the
environment.
We are interested in improving the infrastructure in East Africa,
and in the local industrial ecosystem in which SMEs, entrepreneurs and start-ups all have an important role to play. Moreover,
we would like to examine how this young but fast-growing technological sector can benefit from our expertise and experience.

The Investment and Economic Development Bank of RhinelandPalatinate (ISB) is the economic development institution of the
German state of Rhineland-Palatinate for business and housing
development and is domiciled in Mainz.

financial advice to national and international investors regarding

interest loans, guarantees and equity investments as part of suitable programmes. It also works with local development agencies
to assist investors with the search for suitable land and real estate

For foreign trade promotion purposes, the ISB provides competent advice in close cooperation with the Ministry for Economic
Affairs, Climate Protection, Energy and Regional Planning as well
as the Federal State‘s Chambers of Commerce and many other
multipliers. The ISB gives foreign companies business contacts in
Rhineland-Palatinate and also supports companies from Rhineland-Palatinate to find partners for production, contract manufacturing, joint ventures and distribution in other countries.

KSB is one of the world‘s leading manufacturers of pumps, valves
and related systems for process engineering and building services,
water and waste water management as well as for energy management and the mining industry.

The company MHG was founded in 1967 as a manufacturer of special-purpose cutting machines. These machines are used all round
the world. Today the company offers a large selection of machines
and systems for the field of mechanical process engineering, such as
comminuting machines, sifters, screeners, mixers and washing and
drying units.

Innovative mechanical system components are assembled to
form a unit that will be able to mill agricultural products like
maize so that food or the workable staple food maize meal can be
produced in order to close the gap in the food industry in Rwanda
or Kenya.
The maize mills run reliably on efficient drives powered by solar
energy. The main components of the maize mills are provided
by the Rhineland-Palatinate company PALLMANN, the globally
recognised market leader in shredding technology, with representatives at offices and branches on every continent. This ensures
that services and engineering are provided related to the delivery
and maintenance of all equipment and meeting all modern requirements. Knowledge transfer by interns and students between
Germany and the partner countries makes for innovative cooperation in the long term.
