SteadystateisstudiedinthecaseofDCandACdischarges.Severalexperimental
parametersthatinfluenceonthesteadystatearestudiedinthisworksuchas:the
gasdensity,theinitialenergyoftheprimaryelectrons,theelectricfieldand
magneticfield(transverseandlongitudinal).AstoolofsimulationtheMonteCarlo
methodisused.Thegasusedisthenitrogen.Itisconfirmedthat:
InthecaseofDCdischarges:
- Thesteadystatecanbeachievedbyincreasingthegasdensityortheinter‐
electrodedistance.
- Ifthegasdensityortheinter‐electrodedistancearenotsufficient,steadystate
canbeachievedbyincreasingtheelectricfield.
- Theinitialenergyoftheelectronshasgreateffectonthesteadystateifthe
electricfieldisweakandthedifferencebetweentheinitialenergyandthe
electronsmeanenergyisgreat,butthisproblemcanbesolvedbyextending
thetime.
- Itisnecessarytomakeabestcombinationbetweenthegasdensity,theinter‐

methodinthebestcasesofthesteadystate.
Concerningthemagneticfield:
- Whenthecyclotronfrequencyisveryinferiortothecollisionfrequencythe
transverseandthelongitudinalmagneticfieldshavenoeffectonthetransport
parameters.
- Inthepresenceofthetransversemagneticfieldtheelectronenergy
distributionfunction(EEDF)isMaxwellianifE/B>251000Volt/TeslaandE/N≥
500Td,allthetransportparametersareinthesteadystateanddecreasesifBT
increasesexceptthetransversediffusioncoefficient,alsotheelectronenergy
leavesthesteadystateifE/B≤251000Volt/Tesla.
- Thelongitudinalmagneticfieldhasnoeffectontheeedfandthemostofthe
transportparametersexceptthetransversediffusioncoefficient;itdecreasesif
BLincreasesbutremainsinthesteadystate.
- Generallyunderthemagneticfieldallthetransportparametersareinthe
steadystateifthetimeissufficientexceptthetransversediffusioncoefficient
