APPOINTMENT OF NEW MEMBERS OF THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL
1. In accordance with Article VI of the Statute and Resolution GC/53/R19, the term of office
of nine members of the Scientific Council, namely Drs Paul W. Dickman (Sweden), Luca Gianni
(Italy), Inger Gram (Norway), Murat Gültekin (Turkey), In-Hoo Kim (Republic of Korea),
Deirdre Murray (Ireland), Thangarajan Rajkumar (India), Sergei Tjulandin (Russian Federation)
and Cornelia Ulrich (Germany) will be completed with the 2015 meeting of the Governing
Council.
2. For the information of the Council, this leaves the following 15 members (four women and
11 men) still serving on the Scientific Council: Drs Nuria Aragonés (Spain), James Bishop
(Australia), Nicholas Jones (UK), Christos Sotiriou (Belgium) and Teruhiko Yoshida (Japan)
until 2016; Drs Al-Hareth M. Al-Khater (Qatar), Françoise Clavel-Chapelon (France), Lukas
A. Huber (Austria), Luis Felipe Ribeiro Pinto (Brazil) and John J. Spinelli (Canada) until 2017; and
Drs Stephen J. Chanock (USA), Ellen Kampman (The Netherlands), Ole Raaschou-Nielsen
(Denmark), Martin ösli (Switzerland) and Elisabete Weiderpass-Vainio (Finland) until 2018.
3. In accordance with Article VI.2 of the Agency’s Statute, the Governing Council is requested
to select new members to be appointed to the Scientific Council from the attached list of
experts, one each from Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Norway, the Republic of Korea, the
Russian Federation, Sweden and Turkey.
