 By the end of this lesson students will be able to correctly conjugate the verb être in the present
tense
Background Knowledge Needed:
 By this point, students will know how to conjugate a regular verb in the present tense and will
understand what 1st, 2nd and 3rd person singular and plural subject pronouns mean.

Introduction:
- “Today we are going to learn how to conjugate the verb être in
the present tense. The verb être means ‘to be’. Être is an
irregular verb so it doesn’t follow the rules for verbs that end in
‘RE’.” « Aujourd’hui nous allons apprendre comment conjugué le
verbe être au présent. Être est un verbe irrégulier, alors il ne suit
pas les règles des verbes qui finissent en ‘RE’ »
- “To start, we need to arrange our paper.” « Pour commencer,
nous avons besoin d’arranger notre feuille. » “On the left side,
we always write the singular subject pronouns: je (I), tu (you), il
(he, it), elle (she, it), on (one).” « Sur le côté gauche nous
écrivons toujours les pronoms sujet singuliers : je, tu, il, elle et
on. » “On the right side, we always write the plural subject
pronouns: nous (we), vous (you), ils (they), elles (they).” « Sur le
côté droit nous écrivons toujours les pronoms sujet pluriels :
nous, vous, ils et elles. » “Can you organise your sheet like this?”
« Est-ce que vous pouvez organiser votre feuille comme ça? »

conjugation for it is?” « Pour commencer, nous allons conjuguer
‘je’. Est-ce que quelqu’un sait ce que la conjugaison est? » (This
will continue for the remainder of the subject pronouns)
