UNE EXPOSITION EFFERVESCENTE
L’École de technologie supérieure présente
l’exposition «Dites donc Dow! L’histoire d’une
brasserie d’ici». Témoin du passé industriel
du Sud-Ouest de Montréal, cette exposition
se veut à la fois un hommage à une entre-
prise qui s’est révélée à l’avant-garde dans
son domaine et un clin d’œil à la tradition
d’innovation technologique qu’a poursuivie
l’ÉTS en emménageant sur le site à la fin des
années 1990.
Plus d’une centaine d’objets rappelleront des
souvenirs à de nombreux visiteurs tandis que
d’autres découvriront le dynamisme bouillon-
nant et l’effervescence entrepreneuriale qui
régnait dans le quartier aux 19e et 20e siècles.
Une histoire riche étalée sur plus de 200 ans,
des acteurs nombreux, des rebondissements, un
site en constante évolution, des campagnes de
publicité audacieuses et même la recette de la
bière parfaite… Tous les ingrédients sont réunis
pour faire de cette exposition une visite aussi
passionnante qu’instructive.
En ces lieux chargés d’histoire, accueillant
aujourd’hui de nouveaux entrepreneurs créant
les technologies les plus innovantes, l’ÉTS révèle
au public un pan important du passé industriel
et brassicole de la métropole et rappelle l’apport
de l’une des grandes entreprises montréalaises
au développement économique de Montréal et
du Québec.
Une exposition produite par l’ÉTS et réalisée par Pointe-à-Callière,
musée d’archéologie et d’histoire de Montréal.
L’École de technologie supérieure tient à souligner la grande générosité des collectionneurs privés,
institutions muséales, entreprises et organisations qui ont participé à ce projet d’exposition.

The École de technologie supérieure is
pleased to present “Now for a Dow! The
Story of a Montréal Brewery”. The exhibition
showcases the industrial past of southwest
Montréal, in a tribute to a company that was
always on the cutting edge in its industry
and a salute to the tradition of technological
innovation continued by the ÉTS when it took
over the site in the late 1990s.
The over one hundred items on display are
sure to hold all kinds of fond memories for
many visitors, while others will enjoy learning
about the “bubbling” optimism and innova-
tion in this neighbourhood in the 19th and
20th centuries.
It’s a story spanning more than 200 years, with
lots of twists and turns, many interesting players,
a constantly evolving site, bold advertising
campaigns and even the recipe for the perfect
brew... ingredients sure to make the exhibition a
fascinating, informative experience.
These walls have seen plenty of history, and
today are home to new entrepreneurs developing
advanced, innovative technology. It’s the ideal
place for the ÉTS to turn the spotlight on an
important period in Montréal’s industrial and
brewing past, and to recall the vital role of
one of Montréal’s leading companies in the
economic development of our city and of
Quebec as a whole.
