Anthony P. Cheung, MD,
M.B.B.S., M.P.H., M.B.A.,
F.R.A.N.Z.C.O.G., F.R.C.S.C.
Dr. Cheung is a reproductive
endocrinologist and infertility
specialist. He was the Medical
Director from 2000-2008 and the
Gamete Laboratory Director from 2007-2008
at the IVF Program of the University of
British Columbia (UBC). He is currently the
Clinical Director of the UBC Gynecologic-
Endocrine Laboratory. He received his
medical degree from the University of
Sydney, Australia and is a fellow of both the
Royal Australian and New Zealand College
of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons
of Canada. After completing subspecialty
training in Menopause at the Centre for the
Management of Menopause in Sydney,
Australia and Reproductive Endocrinology
and Infertility (REI) at the University of
California, Davis, he became a faculty
member in the Department of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology at the University of Alberta in
1992 before joining UBC in 1996.
Dr. Cheung also holds Masters’ degrees in
Public Health and Business Administration.
He has research awards on “Establishing a
Canadian Registry for the Study of
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome” (Canadian
Foundation for Women’s Health) and
“Metabolomic profiling of embryo culture
media with Raman spectroscopy” (Women’s
Health Research Institute, BC). He is also
actively involved in collaborative research in
molecular biology and physiology of the
ovary. He is currently working on “Predictive
Models of Pregnancy Success Following
Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART)”
and “ART and pregnancy outcomes in BC”.
He is a patient advocate and a co-
investigator on “The role of women's
knowledge and beliefs about ART in their
decisions to delay childbearing” (CIHR).

Le Dr Anthony P. Cheung est spécialiste
en endocrinologie de la reproduction et
infertilité. Directeur médical et directeur
du laboratoire des gamètes du
programme de FIV de l’Université de la
Colombie-Britannique (UBC) en 2007 et
2008, il assume actuellement la direction
clinique du laboratoire d’endocrinologie
gynécologique à l’UBC. Le Dr Cheung est
diplômé en médecine de l’Université de
Sydney (Australie) et associé du Royal
Australian and New Zealand College of
Obstetricians and Gynaecologists ainsi que
du Collège royal des médecins et
chirurgiens du Canada. Après une
surspécialisation en ménopause, au Centre
for the Management of Menopause à
Sydney, et en endocrinologie de la
reproduction et infertilité (ERI), à l’Université
de la Californie à Davis, il s’est mis à
enseigner au département d’obstétrique-
gynécologie de l’Université de l’Alberta en
1992, avant de se joindre à l’UBC en 1996.
Le Dr Cheung détient une maîtrise en
hygiène publique et une autre en
administration des affaires. Il a reçu une
bourse de la Fondation canadienne de la
santé des femmes pour une recherche sur
l’établissement d’un registre canadien
destiné à l’étude du syndrome des ovaires
polykystiques (SOPK) et une autre du
Women’s Health Research Institute (C.-B.)
pour une recherche sur le profilage
métabolimique des milieux de culture des
embryons à l’aide de la spectroscopie
Raman. Participant actif à la recherche en
biologie moléculaire et physiologie
ovarienne, le Dr Cheung travaille
actuellement à des modèles prédictifs de
grossesse réussie suivant le recours aux
techniques de procréation assistée (TPA)
ainsi qu’à une étude sur les TPA et les

Dr. Cheung is the director of the REI
fellowship training program, a mentor and
supervisor in the IWRH Training Program
and Graduate Program in Reproductive
and Developmental Sciences at UBC, an
IVF accreditation surveyor for Accreditation
Canada, chair of the REI committee of
SOGC, a member on the CFAS Board of
Directors, and a member of the Clinical
Guidelines Committee of SOGC, CFAS, and
AHRC.

supérieures en sciences de la reproduction
et du développement à l’UBC, le Dr Cheung
est également pair visiteur pour l’agrément
d’Accreditation Canada en FIV, président du
comité d’ERI de la SOGC, membre du
conseil d’administration de la SCFA et
membre du Comité tripartite SCFA-SOGC-
PAC sur l’ébauche de guides de pratique
clinique.
