en folates, augmente le risque de cancer du côlon
chez l’homme. De même, bien qu’il soit bien établi in
vitro qu’une carence en folates augmente l’instabilité
génomique en induisant des dommages dans l’ADN,
inhibant la réparation de l’ADN et favorisant ainsi la
transformation maligne, les données concernant une
relation de cause à e et entre ces marqueurs et le
risque de cancer sont insu santes. Les folates jouent
un rôle double dans le développement des cancers : si
les doses modérées d’acide folique s’avèrent protéger
de la carcinogenèse, une “supplémentation” à des
doses très élevées ou entreprise tardivement, alors
que les lésions précancéreuses sont déjà développées,
augmente le risque de cancer.
