Quel qu’un et Personne can be the subject of the sentence:
Ne … personne and ne … rien are NEGATIVE expressions:
Quel qu’un a téléphoné.
Personne n’a travaillé.
Someone called.
No one worked.
They require « ne » before the verb
In one word answers, they can stand alone.
-Qui as-tu rencontré? - Personne.
-Qu’est-ce que tu as fait? - Rien.
In the passé composé, the word order is:
ne + avoir + PP + personne Je n’ai vu personne.
ne + avoir + rien + PP Je n’ai rien vu.
