Social Justice Ministry
Emergency Appeal for Food Crisis in West Africa – the Diocese is participating in an appeal to assist those
affected by the Food Crisis in West Africa and accepting financial donations. All funds will be forwarded to the
Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP). The Government of Canada will match all
donations made until September 30th. Donations can be made in the following ways:
- by sending a cheque payable to your parish and earmarked “Sahel (West Africa Food Crisis) ”
- by sending a cheque payable to the RC Diocese of Calgary, earmarked “Sahel (West Africa Food Crisis)” and
sent to the Pastoral Centre, 120 17 Ave SW, Calgary, AB, T2S 2T2 .

Memorial Service for Fr. Murray Abraham, SJ, Canadian Jesuit - A special memorial service for Fr. Murray
will be held on Wednesday, October 10th at 11:00am at St. James Parish (5504 - 20St. S.W., Calgary).
Father Murray Abraham lived and worked among the poor in India (mainly Darjeeling) for over 60 years. All are
