MONTEVIDEO
In 2003, the four guys didn’t know exactly what to expect from a rock band contest. The guitar player, Manu, learned the ropes of music
through practicing the rythmes of Madness (watch especially his right hand!). The Bass man, Julien (Junkie), a strange character for a unique
and humpy bass playing, was never where you expected him to be, following the Smiths on their tour around Ireland colleges. Jean was
supposed to set up the brass section. Even if It was said his trumpet sound recalled Chet Baker’s, he ended up claiming the front position by
taking care of the lead singing. His brother Pierre kicked out the previous drummer after an outstanding performance making clear he was the
one who would rapidly become indispensable by his ability to switch from heavy sustained rock rhythms to light and subtles disco beats.
In winter 2005, John Stargasm, the leader of "Ghinzu", decided to sign them on his own label "Dragoon".
The first Eponymous album from Montevideo: an explosive mixture between heavy punk rock and what you can expexct
from a night spent in a weting Disco!
The band on some of the key songs of the album :
GROOVY STATION:
A possible title for the album. The oldest song in the repertoire, gave the band its proper identity, the way we were crying on the ashs of a
‘Ska’ band. Lyricas are all about this radio station that we would all rather listen to rather than going out on a Saturday night.
SLUGGISH LOVERS:
Describes the ainfull existence of a new generation, children of mai 68. Drugs, slugginesh, Anger, Love with no meaning.
SUNSHINE
A guy probably lost in hte middle of nowhere, it looks like it’s a junkie whose expecting something from the sky, which would give him a
second chance in life. An equilibrium between disco beats on a peculiar bass line with a little touch of 80’s electro, a cold wave touch.
