- Aspect imperfectif : BE + ING. L’énonciateur exprime l’action du sujet vu dans son
déroulement. EX : She is working at the library.
Plus on ajoute de chose dans le groupe verbal plus on a de nuances de sens. Attention à ne pas
confondre BE+ING avec la durée de l’action. EX : Last year I read War & Peace and it lasted 3
months ≠ I was turning the key in the lock when I heard a noise.
- Aspect perfectif. HAVE + EN. L’énonciateur relie un évènement passé au present et en
exprime le bilan et ses conséquences. EX : She has worked at the library. / I’ve know him for
ages.
L’aspect perfectif et l’aspect imperfectif peuvent se combiner. EX : It has been raining ->
Present + HAVE + EN + BE + ING.

Le présent se compose de la BV sauf à la 3ème personne du singulier –S.
Lorsque qu’un verbe se finit par –S, -SH, -CH, -X, -Z, -O : terminaison en -ES
EX : Pass -> Passes, Push -> Pushes, Catch –> Catches, Box-> Boxes, Go -> Goes
Consonne + Y = Terminaison en –IES
EX : To hurry -> He hurries
Voyelle + Y = Pas de transformation

Les verbes d’opinions sont le plus souvent accompagnés du présent simple : to agree, to assume,
to believe, to disagree, to doubt, to feel, to find, to presume, to think, to suppose, to regret, to
dislike, to hate, to like, to love, to prefer.
Faits habituels/ répétitifs
Ex : He often goes to the supermarket / I never watch television / She washes twice a day.
Marqueur de fréquence : always, never, usually, generally, rarely, often, seldom, sometimes, in
the morning/aftenoon …, on Saturdays, in the winter/summer …, Every day/week/month/year.
