APPOINTMENT OF NEW MEMBERS OF THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL
1.
In accordance with Article VI.4 of the Statute and Resolutions GC/47/R12 and
GC/49/R17, the term of office of two members of the Scientific Council, namely
Dr J. Siemiatycki (Canada) and Dr F. Demenais (France) will be completed with the 2009
meeting of the Governing Council.
2.
For the information of the Council, this leaves the following eighteen members still
serving on the Scientific Council: Dr R. Herrmann, Dr K. Husgafvel-Pursiainen,
Dr B. Kiemeney, Dr T. Orntøft and Dr E. Ron until 2010; Dr Y.-J. Bang, Dr M. Blettner,
Dr H. Comber, Dr G. Forni, Dr H. Grönberg, Dr E. Rivedal, Dr V. Shanta and
Dr D. Zaridze until 2011; and Dr I. Frazer, Dr K. Haustermans, Dr A. Markham,
Dr H. Nakagama and Dr M. Pollán Santamaria until 2012.
3.
Austria who joined IARC in May 2008 was requested to propose up to two
candidates for the appointment of one of them to the Scientific Council.
4.
In accordance with Article VI.2 of the Agency’s Statute, the Governing Council is
requested to select new members to be appointed to the Scientific Council from the
attached list of experts, one each from Austria, Canada and France.
