On les utilise généralement dans des phrases comportant un verbe au parfait. - « for » est utilisé pour introduire une durée : « I have known her for a long time ». - « since » introduit le point de départ d’une action ou d’un évènement. « I have known her since 2002 ». - « ago » est, quant à lui, utilisé au prétérit. Il est l’équivalent de « il y a » en français : « 10 years ago, I was living in Canada ». a.
