Editorial del Presidente de la Comunidad Judia de Marbella
Queridos miembros, queridos amigos…
Hace ya dos años que tengo el honor de presidir
la Comunidad Judía de Marbella y todo lo que
estaba programado ha sido realizado con satisfac-
ción, claro que no sin dificultades, incomprensión
y necesidades financieras.
El website prometido en Pessah del año pasado
ha sido realizado finalmente por nuestros propios
medios para satisfacción de las 500 personas que
lo consultan mensualmente desde su puesta en
servicio a principios de año 2007. Este website
no es un gadget sino una herramienta de trabajo
importante que refleja prácticamente nuestras ac-
tividades, nuestras realizaciones, nuestras recep-
ciones, nuestras informaciones a los miembros
de la comunidad, como por ejemplo, la historia
de los judíos andaluces desde el siglo XVIII hasta
nuestros días, la guerra de Líbano, la visita de per-
sonalidades tales como los miembros dirigentes
del Congreso Judío Europeo, o un gran profesor
de historia de Jerusalén, especializado en del mun-
do oriental y particularmente en el mundo judío
español a quien recibiremos en Chabbat Hagadol.
Pero nuestro orgullo es el diaporama de los túne-
les del muro occidental que nos ha sido enviado
por nuestra amiga Claudia, a cuyas inauguraciones
tenemos que asistir. Muro occidental, dicho muros
de las lamentaciones del templo que ha sido con-
struido sobre el mundo Hamoriah a Jerusalén. El
muro occidental es el llamado muro de las lamen-
taciones del templo que ha sido construido sobre
el Monte Hamoriah en Jerusalén.
La tarea es difícil y los días son cortos, como dice
el refrán. Mi predecesor y amigo, D. Léon Amse-
lem no me ha ocultado nada y él mismo me ha
advertido de las dificultades que encontraré en la
gestión de esta Comunidad pero con la ayuda de
El Eterno y vuestra participación, alcanzaremos y
realizaremos el programa que ha sido proyectado
para los dos próximos años, hasta el fin de mi
mandato.
Nos encontramos en vísperas de Pessah que sim-
boliza la libertad, pero este año esta fiesta reviste
un significado particular, sobre todo tras la guerra
de Líbano donde hemos dado a nuestros enemigos
la impresión de perder la reputación de invenci-
bilidad del Tsahal, y sobre todo tras permanencia
de las amenazas de terrorismo orquestado por los
dirigentes fanáticos y particularmente Ahmed Ah-
manidjad que dirige Irán actualmente.
Pero, incluso cuando no se está animado por una
fe profunda, sentimos en los momentos difíciles, y
creo en todo momento, la necesidad de rezar y de
agradecer al Eterno su benevolencia, y su protec-
ción, que nos liberó de cada una de las catástrofes
que golpean nuestro pueblo.
El Comité de la Comunidad Judía de Marbella se
une a mí para desearos a todos vosotros una buena,
alegre y casher celebración de Pessah.

year Pessah has been achieved finally by our own
means and to the satisfaction of the 500 people
that consults it monthly since its start-up in the
beginning of 2007. is website is not a gadget
but it is an important work tool that reflects our
activities practically, our realizations, our recep-
tions, our information to the members of the
community as for example, the history of the
Andalusian Jews since the XVIIIth century to our
days, the war of Lebanon, the visit of personalities
such as the Governing Board of the European Jew-
ish Congress and the great professor of Jerusalem’s
history, specialized about the oriental world and
especially of the Spanish Jewish world. We will
receive him in Chabbat Hagadol. But our pride
is the slide show of the cellars of the western wall
that has been sent us by our friend Claudia. is
wall of the temple has been constructed on the
Hamoriah mountain in Jerusalem for two times,
practically.
e task is difficult and the days are short, as says
the proverb. My predecessor and friend, Mr. Leon
Amselem didn’t hide me and even put me guard
of the difficulties that I was going to meet in the
management of this community, but with the help
of e Eternal and your participation we will reach
and we will achieve the program that is projected
for the next two years, end of my mandate.
We are on Passover eve that symbolizes the free-
dom, but this year this feast especially has a par-
ticular meaning after the war of Lebanon where
we gave to our enemies the impression to lose the
reputation of invincibility of Tsahal, and especially
the permanence of the terrorism threats orches-
trated by fanatic leaders and particularly Ahmed
Ahmanidjad that leads Iran currently.
But, even when one is not animated by a deep
faith, we feel in the difficult moments, and I be-
lieve in every moment, the need to pray and to
thank e Eternal for his kindliness, for his pro-
tection, that liberated us of each of the disasters
that hit our people.

Chers Membres, Mes chers amis...
Il y a deux ans déjà que j’ai l’honneur de présider la
communauté juive de Marbella et tout ce qui était
programmé a été réalisé avec satisfaction mais non
sans difficultés, d’incompréhension et de besoins
financiers.
Le website qui avait été promis Pessah de l’année
dernière a été finalement réalisée par nos propres
moyens et à la satisfaction des 500 personnes qui le
consultent mensuellement depuis sa mise en serv-
ice au début d’année 2007. Ce website n’est pas un
gadget mais c’est un outil de travail important qui
reflète pratiquement nos activités, nos réalisations,
nos réceptions, des informations aux membres de
la communauté, comme par exemple: l’histoire
des Juifs andalous depuis le XVIIIe siècle à nos
jours, la guerre du Liban, la visite de personnal-
ités telles que les membres dirigeants du Congrès
Juif Européen, un grand professeur d´ histoire de
Jérusalem, spécialisé du monde oriental et par-
ticulièrement du monde juif espagnol que nous
recevons Chabbat Hagadol. Mais notre fierté est le
diaporama des caves du mur occidental qui nous
a été envoyé par notre ami à tous Claudia, et que
nous avons pratiquement assister à leurs inaugura-
tions. Mur occidental, dit mur des lamentations
du temple qui a été construit sur le Mont Hamo-
riah à Jérusalem à deux reprises.
La tâche est difficile et les jours sont courts, com-
me dit le proverbe. Mon prédécesseur et ami, M.
Léon Amselem ne m’a pas caché et même m’a mis
en garde des difficultés que j’allais rencontrer dans
la gestion de cette communauté, mais avec l´aide
de L´Eternel et votre participations nous attein-
drons et nous réaliserons le programme qui est
projeté pour les deux prochaines années, fin de
mon mandat.
Nous sommes à la veille de Pessah qui symbolise la
liberté, mais cette année cette fête revêt une signifi-
cation particulière surtout après la guerre du Liban
où nous avons donné à nos ennemis l´impression
de perdre la réputation d´invincibilité de Tsahal
et surtout la permanence des menaces de terror-
isme orchestrées par les dirigeants fanatiques et
particulièrement Ahmed Ahmanidjad qui dirige
actuellement l´Iran.
Mais, même quand on n’est pas animé d’une foi
profonde nous éprouvons dans les moments dif-
ficiles et je crois même en tout moment les besoins
de prier et de remercier l’éternel de sa bienveillance,
de sa protection, et, qui nous délivre de chacune
des catastrophes qui frappent notre peuple.

European Jewish Congress President Pierre Besnainou and EJC Exec-
utive members from Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Russia, Italy,
the United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium and Romania participated on
ursday and Friday, January 25 and 26, in the second annual Shoah
memorial ceremonies organised in Madrid.

Rodriguez Zapatero, foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos and jus-
tice minister Juan Fernando Lopez Aguilar.
Referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s denial of the
Shoah and call to “wipe Israel off the map”, Pierre Besnainou expressed
his astonishment over the fact that Teheran still counts friends in demo-
cratic countries.
e President of the EJC shared with the Spanish PM his grave concern
over statements by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez who compared
Israel’s military operations to the ones led by Adolf Hitler, evaluating
that these declarations put the Jewish community of Caracas in danger.
During the meeting, Spanish PM Zapatero declared that a positive out-
come in the Middle East peace process and a breakthrough in the Iraqi
crises would be an essential stage in bringing an end to terror.
“Europe in general and Spain in particular have a major role to play in
the Middle East, where the peace process must be genuinely resumed,”
stated Zapatero and Besnainou.
El jueves 25 y el viernes 26 de enero, el presidente del Congreso Judío Europeo Pierre Besnainou u otros miembros ejecutivos de España, Portugal,
Francia, Alemania, Rusia, Italia, Reino Unido, Austria, Bélgica y Rumania participaron en Madrid en la segunda ceremonia conmemorativa dedicada
a la Shoa.
El presidente español José Luís Zapatero tambien los recibió el viernes, junto con el ministro de asuntos exteriores Miguel Ángel Moratinos y el
ministro de justicia Juan Fernando López. Aguilar.
Referente a la negación de la Shoa por el presidente de Irán Mahmoud Ahmadinejad y su llamamiento para borrar Israel del mapa, Pierre Besnainou
se sorprendió que Teherán aún cuenta con amigos en los países democráticos.
El presidente del EJC y el presidente español mostraron preocupación por las afirmaciones del presidente venezolano Hugo Chávez que comparó las
operaciones militares israelíes con las que organizó Adolf Hitler. Llegaron a la conclusión de que estas declaraciones ponen en peligro a la Comunidad
judía de Caracas.
Zapatero to the EJC - “Europe and Spain Have Major Role to Play in the Middle East”
Durante la reunión Zapatero expresó que un re-
sultado positivo en el proceso de paz en el Oriente
Medio u una solución a la crisis en Irak serían im-
prescindibles para terminar definitivamente con el
terror.
“Europa en general y específicamente España
tienen un papel importante en el Oriente Medio
donde la búsqueda de paz debe reanudarse” afir-
maron Zapatero y Besnainou.
Pierre Besnainou también observó que Moratinos
tiene un conocimiento excelente de la situación
complicada en el Oriente Medio y animó a Zapa-
tero a viajar próximamente a Israel, un país para el
cual el presidente español dijo tener un “respecto
profundo”.
Tal visita podría contribuir a comprender mejor la
política en juego en la búsqueda de paz. Referente
al tema de la intolerancia, el presidente del EJC fe-
licitó a Zapatero por el hecho de que el antisemitis-
mo no es un problema grave en España de hoy día,
un país que simboliza el respeto hacia los derechos
humanos y los valores democráticas
Pierre Besnainou noted that foreign minister Moratinos had remarkable
knowledge of the complex situation in the Middle-East and encouraged
Prime Minister Zapatero to travel in the near future to Israel, a country
for which the Spanish PM declared he had “profound respect”.
Such a visit could contribute to a better understanding of the political
stakes in the search of peace.
On the issue of intolerance, the President of the European Jewish Congress
congratulated Prime Minister Zapatero for the fact that anti-Semitism
was not a major preoccupation in today’s Spain, a country which symbol-
ises respect for human rights and democratic values.
