The purpose of this Maintenance Handbook is to act as a reference tool to help
effectively manage and maintain digital relays.
This Handbook will help in the creation of an effective maintenance schedule by
identifying critical components in a relay and identifying the application red flags that
are detrimental to the relay’s life. This Handbook will also recommend practices for
maximizing the life of a digital relay, while making the most effective use of resources
and time.
Included with this Handbook are specific Multilin product Maintenance Guides. They
include instructions on how to perform in-service, out-of-service, and unscheduled
maintenance on specific relays. Explanations and recommended actions regarding
relay self-test messages are provided for fast troubleshooting. Maintenance worksheets
are also included as instrumental tools to aid in performing hardware validation tests.
