Hi Automatticians,
After learning more about your company and culture from your web page, YouTube channel and Matt’s page, I
would love to be considered for the Software Engineer (Code Wrangler) position. I am very interested in being part
of a global team that has an enormous impact on the way people use the internet and their lives in general. Also, I
am looking forward to working with very smart and talented people, not to mention I love the way you name your
teams like the Patronus Team -Harry Potter fan here-.
My first encounter with a CMS was during my third year of university in 2008. That summer I developed a web page
for my faculty fellows that allowed us to share content and files with the help of free resources -cc.co free domain
and 000webhost free web host. Now, the only thing left is a webarchive.org capture. That same year I founded
"Fandom Code", a developer community aiming to participate in the Google Code Jam. So we did, but we did not
make it beyond the first round due to our poor English skills and difficulty solving problems with C++. That is what
had to happen for me to realize that Python solutions run much smoother.
After that, I was recommended for a freelance job as a PHP developer to develop many sites and CMS modules.
This allowed me to migrate from my old Pentium III 750Mhz 256MB RAM with shared video to an AMD Athlon 64
x2 4800+ 2x1GB DDR2 RAM Geforce 8500 512MB. Yes, I was a hardware enthusiast who also learned about
Computer Maintenance and Assembly.
As you will see on my resume, in my first full time job at SUNAT I developed many systems and most of them were
unsolicited in order to make my teammates’ lives easier. I chose Python because the majority of challenges were
about large data crossing and statistics. From my CTO/Founder experience at Traemelo.pe I learned not everything
is about coding and just as your creed states "life is a marathon not a sprint". It took many late nights and books to
understand that.
Currently, my main role at SENATI is leading the development of the official mobile application for 80K+ users -
mostly students-. This allowed me to work closely with some of them to decide on the next features and priorities
of the product. I also developed other systems that help the IT department to work better and share knowledge
with other developers that no are in my close team.
I would love to be an Automattician too, so feel free to contact me for any questions.
Best wishes and happy coding,
Paulo Salas

Dear John Parker,
My name is Javier Medina and I’m a Peruvian Software Engineer interested in the position of Founding
Engineer at Dex. I want to apply my experience to empower this great technology team and help it achieve
global impact. At this point in my career I am certain I can make it possible.
In my 7+ years of analysis, development and leadership work on software projects for industries like
banking, telecommunication, marketing, B2B delivery and geographic information systems, I have been
lucky to contribute in different ways. To list some of them in 2018 at Chazki -a food delivery startup- I
improved the software automation of their delivery process reducing 70% their support calls thus improving
their customer service. In 2015 at Linnso -a young custom software development company- I defined a
profitable selling and development strategy, reducing work time and raising their monthly income from 8K-
to 10K+, finally achieving profitability since its foundation.
I admire the fact that you are a Y Combinator startup and your welfare goal to strengthen relationships.
That and all the feedback you received on YCombinator News (HN) and Product Hunt really caught my
attention and made me think that Dex is the right company to take my next career leap. I strongly believe
that your service is something really useful for people like me who value strong interpersonal relationships.
I also believe that, being in its early stage, I can add value through my experience in product development
and team scaling. I would love to get the chance to be part of the next big steps Dex takes!
I am really looking forward to getting to know you better, telling you more about my experience and
developing ideas for Dex now and in the future.
Warm regards,
Javier Medina

Dear Hiring Manager,
I would like to introduce myself as an applicant for the Data Scientist position at River Tech, a prestigious
and reputable name in innovative technology. I am confident in my ability to perform as a Data Scientist at
River Tech due to my extensive education and work experience.
During my work experience at Crane & Jenkins, I had an extensive range of responsibilities including
selecting features, optimizing classifiers, mining data, expanding the company's data by incorporating third-
party sources, improving data collection techniques, processing data, and doing ad-hoc analyses. As a Data
Scientist, I was required to have excellent communication skills, understanding of algorithms, excellence in
the MatLab tool kit, proficiency in GGplot, knowledge of SQL, and excellence in applied statistics. During
my eight-year tenure at Crane & Jenkins, I applied these skills daily and performed exceptionally at the
company.
My abilities as a Data Scientist are rooted in a sturdy education in mathematics. I began with a bachelor's
degree in computer science from Longford Tech. I followed this with a master's degree in statistics and a
Ph.D. in applied mathematics. I attribute my success as a Data Scientist in large part to this extensive and
in-depth education. I believe my personality has also played a major role in my ability to succeed in this
career. I am an extremely analytical, data-oriented, and calculated. Even in my personal life I like to look at
the data before making a decision. I like to analyze outcomes.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to review my application. I look forward to hearing more about
River Tech and the details of the Data Scientist position. I feel that my education and experience will ensure
my success in this role.
Sincerely,
Ebony Moore

Dear Hiring Manager,
I would like to throw in my hat as an applicant for the open DevOps Engineer position at Flagship
Engineering. I have the analytical mind necessary to write code and the big-picture mentality to make it
innovative and unique. I also enjoy overseeing projects, organizing people and channeling them into areas
where they can make the best use of their talents. I'm thrilled at the prospect of becoming a part of your
team at Flagship and placing my abilities at your service.
I began my IT career as a front-end developer at Crossover Software. My first job entailed working with
teams of developers to write apps with varying functionalities from mobile games to search algorithms and
malware detection packages. Collaborating with other developers not only honed my coding skills but also
taught me the value of how to effectively work with others and subdivide tasks to improve efficiency and
ensure smooth teamwork. I then became a cybersecurity technician with Centurion Technologies, designing
encryption software and instructing clients in its use.
With my experience in software development, cybersecurity and public speaking, I later decided to combine
my skills and become a DevOps Engineer at Innovation Software Solutions. With me at the helm
coordinating development and IT Operations team, I was able to design CI/CD pipelines that improved the
company's ability to design, debug and release software by 20%.
I am honored to have to opportunity to apply my unique set of skills to assist your organization and its
clients. I don't believe there is any contradiction between appreciating the logic in tightly-written software
and being a people person, and I look forward to showing you how I can combine these things as we move
along in the hiring process.
Sincerely,
Jax Sampson

In addition, my background with working in large development teams has given me the skills to adjust to
the changing dynamics and processes of those environments while meeting scheduled milestones and
deliverables.
In my previous experience at Cloud Clearwater, I developed several web-based applications for a project
management software client. These cloud-based applications tracked and managed information
technology project information for several of the world's largest financial companies. I was involved in the
design and development process for all applications, and I managed enhancement requests after each
rollout.
I am a proven team player, which is another important requirement for this position. I was recently voted
