Teaching notes
This pairwork activity is designed for year 7 or 8 students and will take around
30-40 minutes to complete. Students will need access to one iPad between
two (or to an analogue clock or watch).
Using a free interactive clock face like the one on
www.teacherled.com/resources/clockspin/clockspinload.html, students work in
pairs to practise saying and understanding different times.
Task 1
Listening and understanding.
Partner A starts with task 1 (p.1) by reading each French time in column A to
their partner. Partner B listens and moves the hands of the clock to show the
time given. Partner A then checks it is correct before reading the next time.
They then swap roles, with partner B using the times on p.2.
Task 2
Giving the time.
Partner A starts with task 2 (p.3) by moving the hands of the clock to show
each time given in column A. Partner B then looks at the clock and says the
time shown in French. Partner A checks the answers in column B before
moving on to the next time. They then swap roles with partner B using the
times given on p.4.
