be sure the rugs are original and have the right to be called a
Beni
Ouarain. The Beni Ouarain are a confederation of seventeen
Berber tribes, whose ancestors may have been established in
the northeastern part of the Middle Atlas since the 9th century
AD. In these mountain areas one can still find the old breed of
small sheeps, where the excellent wool comes from, which is
responsible for the quality of Beni Ouarain carpets. Beni
Ouarain Outlet buys the berber rugs from these areas only from
the weavers themselves, not from bazaars or middlemen. That’s
why we can guarantee the authenticity of our Berber rugs. We
deliberately do not buy our Moroccan carpets

in other area’s where the hype has led to great
commercialization and to the imitation of these beautiful
berber carpets.
Beni Ourain, Boucherouite and Handira:
Beni Ourain Rugs are pieces from a rich Moroccan Berber
tribe tradition. These pieces have a soul and a character that
can tell your story. The colors and patterns reflect the daily life
of the Moroccans even though they may appear abstract.

Beni Ourain is thick and warm since it is traditionally made to
provide warmth during the chilly winters in the mountains.The
Berber women also make the rugs to use as a shelter at the
entrance of tents or as floor coverings. These traditional ways
of knotting and weaving together with the motives have been
passed down in our family from generation to generation.
