About the Scholarships
Queen Margaret University and Santander are pleased to offer a small number of competitive
scholarships for new international students. Below you will find information about the Scholarships
and how to apply.

If you have any questions about the scholarships available please do not hesitate to contact
international@qmu.ac.uk
How much are the scholarships?
The Scholarships are worth £3000 to £5000. The scholarship is granted as a reduction of the tuition
fee and cannot be used as payment towards any deposit required for your programme. The
scholarship is payable for one single-year of study, and students cannot reapply in subsequent
years.
Who is eligible to apply?
Scholarship applications are accepted from students who have applied for a course taught on
campus at Queen Margaret University on an Undergraduate or taught Postgraduate degree
programme. Students do not have to have been made an offer or accepted their place at the time
of application. Applicants must be self-funding (i.e. not funded by a sponsor) and on a programme
with an international tuition fee of more than £9000 per year.
When must I apply by?
Students starting in September should apply by 31 March for a first round of allocations. A second
round of allocations will be made for scholarships returned and applications should be made by 31
May. If you have already submitted an application for consideration in the first round there is no
need to submit a second application. Students starting in January should apply by 30 November.
How do I apply and how is my application assessed?
To apply for a scholarship you must complete the attached application form. In particular you
should complete a supporting statement of between 500 and 1000 words. You should include in
this statement
Your reasons for choosing your degree programme AND how this particular course would be of
benefit to you in your future career
Information on any noteworthy academic or professional achievements to-date
A description of the positive financial impact that the Scholarship would have on you (e.g. you
may wish to provide information on your typical income and any financial commitments that you
have)
any other matter which you may consider to be relevant to your application
NO additional documentation (e.g. CV’s, reference or statements) will be considered and should
not be sent. Your university application form will not be used as part of the decision making
process. The statement will be assessed by a panel and applicants will be notified of a decision
after the closing date and the scholarship panel have met.
