BORLIX CATALOGUE English Product range p. 4 Overview p. 24 Services p. 26 We Care p. 35 BORLIX Borlix is an important European supplier of ingredients and raw materials with added value for the feed and food industry. To keep up with the growing demand, we continuously invest to improve our products and services: > Improve processes to increase efficiency and productivity. > Extend the product range to meet customer demands. Located in the harbour of Zeebrugge, Borlix has a prime location for transport by coaster, barge, truck or container. Toasted extruded feed ingredients for the compound feed industry The modern highly-successful animal production in today's world is constantly evolving. Therefore a continuous improvement of the feed components is required. Hydrothermal processing (wet heat treatment by means of steam, also called 'toasting') of various feeds has become increasingly popular in the animal feed industry during the last few decades. In order to remain abreast with these new developments and to be able to meet the growing demand, our company invested in two seperate toasting and extrusion lines for the valorisation of raw materials. 3 PRODUCT RANGE A hand-picked selection of our finest products. All are processed and handled with care. Our dehulling equipment is tuned for: ›› Lupins ›› Peas ›› Soybeans ›› Horse-beans For a good dehulling, the raw commodity needs to be roasted by a fluidized bed roasting installation. Subsequently, the hulls get mechanically stripped from the kernels. The hull seperator removes the hulls from the kernels by aspiration (based on weight difference between kernel and hull). We are able to seperate 90% of the hulls from the kernel. Typically, decortication is used to increase the energetic density of a commodity. ›› Increase protein content ›› Increase oil content ›› Decrease crude fiber content Our dehulling installation is approved for human food application by MPS-ECAS 29 EXTRUSION COOKING Extrusion cooking can be described as a process whereby preconditioned moistened feed ingredients are forced under pressure through a small special designed opening. The extrusion cooking process combines the effect of the steam preconditioning with the act of mechanical friction due to extrusion. HTST treatment High Temperature – Short Time in combination with high pressure. Benefits: ›› Improved protein digestibility through thermal and mechanical unfolding of the major globulins ›› Inactivation of the enzyme activity of trypsin inhibitors ›› Gelatinization of starch ›› Improved starch digestibility due to the shearing effect on the extruder screw ›› Mechanical friction causes increased oil availability ›› Increased metabolisable energy ›› Inactivation of lipase and lipoxygenase ›› Lower total cell count STEAMING The principal is to boil water continuously so that it vaporizes into steam. The steam transfers the heat to the processed product. Our steam installation guarantees: ›› Inactivation of alive insects by applying steam ›› Steaming (or toasting) increases the flavour of the product ›› Lower total cell count due to heat treatment FINE MILLING The goal is to grind the product into very small pieces. This results in a defined fine texture. There is an upcoming trend to grind ingredients very fine, especially in feed application for young animals. To meet this growing demand, we invested in a milling installation. Upon your request, we can process any product on the granulometry specification you desire Applications: ›› Soybean meal ›› Less than 300 micron ›› Soy hulls ›› Less than 200 micron ›› Wheat ›› ... ›› Linseed expeller ›› ... 31 BORLIX AS ELEVATOR Storage and handling ›› Discharging coasters, barges, containers, trucks, ... ›› Loading barges, tipping trucks, silo trucks, containers ›› Delivery on truck, on barge, in container, in bigbags Repackaging Repackaging system from bigbag to bulk for all kinds of products. We care about customers A strong and efficient service means being accessible and communicative. We help our customers by thinking together with them to achieve their goals. We care about people The Borlix team of employees is the key of our business. We provide good training and believe strongly in employee engagement on a very personal level. 35 We care about the environment Borlix cares for the planet and (therefore) improves process efficiency. We not only prefer to supply our raw commodities over water instead of by road but also use chemical substances at a minimum by steaming instead of using insecticides. We care about our suppliers We have a strong partnership approach towards our suppliers as we believe this will benefit both of us. Because our suppliers do every effort to provide the best quality and service possible, we can deliver the best for our clients, which is the basis for a long term relationship.
