OBJECTIFS
•Set up and insert a Pulmonary Artery (PA) catheter.
•Understand the indications, limitations and complications of pulmonary artery (PA)
catheters in critical care settings
•Be able to interpret mixed-venous blood gases, and determine whole-body oxygen
delivery and consumption
•Be able to assess rightsided catheterization variables, including :
•Central venous pressure (CVP)
•Pulmonary artery pressure (PAP)
•Pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP)
•Cardiac output (CO)
