Terms & Conditions
The “Eurordis 2008 Photo Contest” is organised by Eurordis, the European Organisation
for Rare Diseases.
The competition is open to anyone in Europe having an interest in rare diseases.
The contest starts on November 1st 2007. All photos must be submitted by March 31st
2008. Any photos submitted after this date will not be considered for the contest.
The photos submitted must not have received any prizes in other competitions.
An entry form must be filled for every photo submitted. Photos will only be presented to
the jury if accompanied by the original completed entry form.
Up to five pictures may be sent per entrant.
Photos can be submitted in each of the following categories:
o Portrait of people affected by a rare disease;
o Rare disease patients in every day life (with friends, family, at work, in
school)
o Rare disease patients and the medical environment
Eurordis reserves the right to disqualify photos which it believes are not genuinely
obtained i.e. believed to be not taken by the named entrant.
Winners will be announced in May 2008 on the occasion of the Eurordis Annual
Memembership Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark; the jury's decision is final.
All prizes will be awarded once a final decision has been reached. The winners will be
notified by the most convenient method available.
Selected photos, including the winners, will be exhibited at the Eurordis Membership
Meeting in Copenhagen, May 2008.
Copyright of submitted images will rest with the photographer. However, entry into the
competition will permit unrestricted use of the images by Eurordis for communication
purposes (website, newsletter, brochures, leaflets etc.).
Photos must be free of any rights of third parties. The photographer must possess sole
rights of use of the photos submitted.

Photos submitted to Eurordis will not be returned. Eurordis cannot be held responsible for
the loss or damage of photos.
Upon exceptional circumstances and special request by the photographer, the person(s)
on the photo or their family, photos will stop being used further by Eurordis (if the person
or the family do not want the photo to be used for public communication any more).
However, previously developed communication supports will be used until out of stock.
Employees of Eurordis and their families, members of Eurordis’ Board and their families,
and members of the jury and their families are not allowed to enter the contest.
Entering the competition implies acceptance of these rules.

Technical requirements:
Photos can be in colour or black & white;
Digital images should be high resolution;
Slides and prints are not accepted.
