The use of the future to express something WILL HAPPEN if a certain
condition is met. These sentences consist of TWO parts :
-the SI clause [if] which expresses the condition
-the RESULT clause, which tells what WILL HAPPEN
Exemples :
1. Si nous achetons une caravane, nous ferons du camping.
2. S’il fait beau, nous irons à la plage.
3. Si j’ai de l’argent, je voyagerai cet été.
The following sentences describe what WILL HAPPEN when another event
occurs.
Quand Sophie sera en vacances, elle voyagera. When Sophie is on vacation, she will travel.
Quand nous irons au Canada, nous visiterons Québec. When we go to Canada, we will visit
Quebec City.
When referring to future events, the French use the future tense in BOTH the main clause
and the QUAND clause. In French, the pattern is :
QUAND-clause : Future MAIN-clause : FUTURE
Quand nous aurons une caravane, nous ferons du camping.
