Le temps futur

Pour mettre les verbes au futur:
•-er verbs –add the endings to the infinitive
•-ir verbs - add the endings to the infinitive
•-re verbs – drop the “e” and add the endings
to the infinitive
•Most irregular verbs that end in –re –drop the
“e” and add the endings to the infinitive
(croire, prendre, mettre, etc.)
•Most irregular verbs that end in –ir –just add
the endings to the infinitive (ouvrir, servir)

Stem-change verbs
Keep the stem-change for the future stem:
•J’essaierai (essayer)
•Je paierai (payer)
•Je lèverai (lever)
•J’achèterai (acheter)
•J’appellerai (appeler)
•Exception –verbs that change from é to è
(préférer, accélérer) –use the infinitive for
the stem, with no stem change- j’espérerai
