Pour un séminaire intitulé:
« Detection and Characterization of Viable Circulating Tumor Cells
as Liquid Biopsy for Cancer »
Abstract
Research on circulating tumor cells (CTCs) is a very active field with more than 15,440 publications listed
under the key phrase ‘circulating tumor cell’ in PubMed in September 2014. CTCs are used as biomarkers in
>270 clinical trials registered at the NCI website (http://clinicaltrials.gov). Strong evidence for CTCs as
prognostic markers has been documented for breast cancer but CTC detection is also connected to
metastatic relapse and progression in other tumor entities including prostate, lung and colorectal cancer. In
ongoing interventional studies the clinical utility of CTCs for treatment decisions is being evaluated. In
particular, the use of CTCs as real-time liquid biopsy has received attention over the past years.
