LEAVING CERT FRENCH - VERBS © PAUL STENSON REFLEXIVE VERBS Un verbe pronominal = a reflexive verb. e.g. se laver = to wash oneself s’habiller = to get dressed The reflexive pronoun se changes according to the subject: Me (m’) Te (t’) Se (s’) Nous Vous Se (s’) Se laver S’habiller Je me lave Tu te laves Il se lave Nous nous lavons Vous vous lavez Ils se lavent Je m’habille Tu t’habilles Il s’habille Nous nous habillons Vous vous habillez Ils se lavent Rules for using reflexive verbs 1. Oneself e.g. Je me lave. Je me regarde dans la glace. These verbs can also be used non-reflexively; Je lave la voiture Je regarde les émissions de sport 2. Direct Object Reflexive verbs can also be used with a direct object e.g. with parts of the body.
