WHAT IS CLIMADAPT?
CLIMADAPT is an EU-funded project focused on supporting
ENPI-South countries in tackling Climate Change through
the implementation of new educational programs and the
foundation of sustainable structures.
Climate Change is one of the most important issues
facing society today in the Mediterranean region. Given
the trans-boundary nature of this phenomenon, a regional
approach is necessary to holistically address the issue.
Training of local professionals in the eld of climate change
management is therefore a priority for countries to be able
to implement actions in adaptation and mitigation measures.
MAIN ACTIvITIES
Three main activities will be undertaken during the
CLIMADAPT project:
1. A needs analysis and skills enhancement performed for
each of the partner universities.
2. The creation of a Euro-Mediterranean Masters Program
in Climate Change and Risk Management in line with the
Bologna requirements in each of the partner universities.
This program includes the placement of Master’s students
for an internship in the participating NGOs to develop
climate mitigation projects.
3. The creation of 3 National Centres for Climate Change
Adaptation in Jendouba (Tunisia), Mostaghanem (Algeria)
and Kenitra (Morocco). These Centres will enhance
collaboration between researchers from universities,
government and other overseas organisations. They will
also enhance liaison with government departments, local
authorities, NGOs and industry.
LE PROJET CLIMADAPT
CLIMADAPT est un projet nancé par l’UE pour soutenir
les pays ENPI-Sud à faire face au changement climatique,
par la mise en œuvre de nouveaux programmes éducatifs
et la création de structures d’observation durables. La
région méditerranéenne est particulièrement exposée à
diérents risques générés par ce phénomène. Aussi est-il
important de l’aborder dans une perspective holistique. La
formation de professionnels locaux dans le domaine de
gestion du changement climatique est donc une priorité
pour que les pays méditerranéens puissent engager des
actions d’adaptation et d’atténuation.
ACTIvITÉS PRINCIPALES
Trois activités principales seront développées pendant la
réalisation du projet CLIMADAPT :
1. L’analyse des besoins et l’amélioration des compétences
pour chacune des universités partenaires.
2. La création d’un programme de Master Euro-Méditerranéen
en Gestion de Changements Climatiques et Risques
conforme aux orientations du plan de Bologne dans
chacune des universités partenaires. Ce programme
comprend notamment le placement des étudiants du
Master en stages encadrés par des ONG membres du projet.
3. La création de trois Centres Nationaux d’observation pour
l’Adaptation au Changement Climatique à l’université
de Jendouba (Tunisie), l’Université de Mostaganem
(Algérie) et l’Université Ibn Tofaïl de Kénitra (Maroc). Ces
Centres permettront de promouvoir la collaboration entre
chercheurs universitaires, pouvoirs publics et acteurs du
monde socio-économique.
