PROJECTS IN ACTION…
ECO District
A project in partnership with HABILIM [social housing provider in
the Limousin region] with accommodation for assisted living for the
elderly and disabled, equipped with automated solutions for
comfort and safety.
OPAH
Within the framework of an OPAH (operation programmed to
improve habitat), the commune has decided, amongst other objec-
tives, to support people living in their own home, ensuring their
comfort and safety, with the possibility of individual grants.
The Town council of Aixe-sur-Vienne is a local
authority whose territorial responsibilities include
social action, healthcare and managing issues
associated with the elderly and dependent populations.
As such, the authority is very involved in home support
services and accessibility for the elderly and the
disabled.
In addition to the usual prerogatives of every
commune, the Town council organises specific actions
such installing automation facilities in 27 homes as part
of the creation of an ECO (sustainable) district, designed
in part to accommodate elderly and disabled persons.

•• IDENTITY
The Town council of Aixe-sur-Vienne is committed to providing local
services to assist with issues of personal autonomy. It has strived
for years to integrate the physically and mentally disabled and, in
addition, manages two halfway and care residences (HANDAS
[Association for the Multi-Handicapped] and APAJH [Association
for Disabled Adults and Young People]). The community also hosts
an EHPAD (Residential Care Home for the Dependent Elderly) mana-
ged by the Limousin branch of the Mutualité Française mutual
health insurance group. The CCAS (Communal Centre for Social
Action) operates a meal delivery service in association with the
Departmental Council of the Haute-Vienne, which has a branch
office at the Maison de Solidarité located within the commune.
Themed partner meetings are regularly organised by the Town
council of Aixe-sur-Vienne in association with the Maison de
Solidarité.
•• POINTS OF REFERENCE
The commune of Aixe-sur-Vienne has around 5,600 inhabitants;
25% are over 67 years old. As a result of the substantial efforts
of the associative network, original initiatives have been imple-
mented for “senior citizens”, including free aqua-gym with special
“age in movement” sessions; computer and TIC courses for
people in their 60s and 70s at the Cyberbase, to name just a few.
