STATISTIQUE GENETIQUE ET BIO-­‐INFORMATIQUE Poste à l’Institut Pasteur (Paris, France) Dans le cadre du projet LabEx « Milieu Intérieur » (MI), un poste d’ingénieur en statistique génétique et bioinformatique est ouvert à partir de mars 2014 à l’Institut Pasteur de Paris. Le LabEx MI a pour objectif de définir la variabilité naturelle de la réponse immunitaire humaine à une échelle sans précédents. Des milliers d’aspects de la réponse immunitaire (i.e., expression génique, protéique, phénotypes cellulaires, etc.) aux pathogènes et à différents stimuli immunologiques sont en train d’être établis sur un échantillon de 1000 donneurs sains. L’intégration de ces données uniques avec les profils de variabilité du génome humain, du microbiome et d’un très large nombre de variables démographiques permettront d’évaluer l’impact respectif des facteurs génétiques, environnementaux et socioculturels dans la mise en place de la diversité de réponse immune de l’homme, elle-­‐même responsable de nos différences de susceptibilités aux infections et de réponses aux traitements thérapeutiques et vaccins. Le/la candidat(e) sera en charge de l’analyse de toutes ces données et travaillera au sein d’une équipe multidisciplinaire, qui intègre la génétique humaine, la génétique des populations, l’immunologie, la biologie évolutive et la biologie de systèmes. Ce projet ambitieux nécessite un traitement statistique rigoureux et novateur. Pour ces raisons, nous cherchons un candidat maîtrisant l’analyse de données à grande échelle (data mining), les outils de base et avancés d’inférence statistique (ex. : modèles linéaires et linéaires généralisés, statistiques bayésiennes, algorithmes MCMC, etc.) et le langage R pour l’analyse de données. Egalement, le candidat doit manifester un intérêt particulier dans le développement d’approches statistiques originales. Des connaissances en génomique ou biologie ne sont pas requises mais seront appréciées. Profil : Docteur ou Ingénieur en Biostatistique, Bioinformatique ou Statistique Génétique, ou plusieurs années d’expérience dans ces disciplines. The goal of the MI consortium is to define the naturally-­‐occurring variation of the human immune responses to an unprecedented scale. Thousands of aspects of the variation of the immune response (i.e., gene expression, protein variation, cellular phenotypes, etc.) to pathogens and immune stimuli are being defined in a large cohort of 1000 healthy individuals. The integration of these datasets with the degree of genome-­‐wide variation of the human genome, variation in microbiota, and a number of demographic variables will allow us to evaluate the respective impact of genetic, environmental and sociocultural factors on the inter-­‐individual variability of the immune response, which in turn can account for differences in susceptibility to infectious disease, and response to therapeutic treatment and vaccines. The candidate will be responsible for data analyses in the context of this project and will work in a multidisciplinary team that integrates human genetics, population genetics, immunology, evolutionary biology and systems biology. This ambitious project needs cutting-­‐edge and innovative methods for the statistical analyses of the data. We look for a candidate with strong experience in large-­‐scale data analyses (data mining), advanced tools in statistical inference (e.g., linear and generalised linear models, Bayesian statistics, MCMC algorithms, etc.) and good programming skills in R. We expect the candidate to have a strong interest in the development of new statistical approaches. Knowledge of genomics and biology is not necessary but will be appreciated. Requirements: The applicant should have a PhD, or equivalent degree, in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics or Statistical Genetics, or several years of experience in these fields. Team spirit and dynamism are essential. Salary will depend on previous experience.
