Kaaren Neufeld, RN, MN

In addition to her work as CNA president, Kaaren Neufeld is the
chief quality officer for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority
(WRHA). She is also an assistant professor at the University of
Manitoba and a proud member of the Canadian Patient Safety
Institute’s board of directors. Neufeld has more than 30 years’
nursing experience in a variety of areas, including education,
research, administration and hands-on care. Previous to her current
position at the WRHA Neufeld was the executive director and
chief nursing officer of St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg.
She has also held an executive position at the Academy of
Canadian Executive Nurses and has been a member of the national advisory committee on
SARS. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Neufeld graduated from the University of Manitoba’s
faculty of nursing with a bachelor’s degree in 1978 and completed a master’s degree there in
1986.

En plus de son travail comme présidente de l’AIIC, Kaaren Neufeld est chef de la qualité à
l’Office régional de la santé de Winnipeg (ORSW). Elle est aussi professeure adjointe à la
Faculté des sciences infirmières de l’Université du Manitoba et fière membre du conseil
d’administration de l’Institut canadien pour la sécurité des patients. Mme Neufeld possède plus de
30 ans d’expérience dans tout un éventail de rôles, notamment en éducation, en recherche, en
administration ainsi qu’en pratique clinique. Avant d’occuper son présent poste à l’ORSW,
Mme Neufeld était directrice générale et chef de direction des soins infirmiers à l’Hôpital général
de Saint-Boniface à Winnipeg. Elle a aussi occupé un poste de direction à l’Académie des chefs
de direction en soins infirmiers, et elle a siégé au Comité consultatif national sur le SRAS.
Originaire de Winnipeg (Manitoba), Mme Neufeld a obtenu son baccalauréat de la Faculté de
sciences infirmières de l’Université du Manitoba en 1978, et sa maîtrise en 1986.
