Pluie de démissions à l'Agence nationale de la recherche. Des
scientifiques, parfois engagés depuis plusieurs années dans les comités
spécialisés de l'Agence nationale de la recherche et qui sélectionnent
les projets à financer, jettent l'éponge. Et annoncent, plus ou moins
publiquement, qu'ils quittent ces comités, où ils font un tri de plus en

numériques dont le mouvement a été lancé en 2005 en Californie, sont

La génomique environnementale : un nouveau regard sur le vivant
Le séquençage à haut débit de l’ADN qui a émergé au début des années 2000
constitue une rupture dans la manière d’aborder les questions
scientifiques, voire en poser de nouvelles en biologie et sciences de
l’environnement. De ces bouleversements émerge un nouveau champ de
recherche appelé « génomique environnementale ». Cette nouvelle
discipline représente une opportunité exceptionnelle pour répondre aux
défis posés en matière d’environnement, de réchauffement climatique, et
plus généralement de maîtrise des impacts du changement global sur les
écosystèmes. Fruits du dynamisme de la communauté française, soutenue par
le Groupement de recherche Génomique Environnementale (GDR3692), deux
issues spéciales publiées récemment dans les revues Heredity et Genetica,
reflètent les récentes avancées dans un champ de recherche qui bouleverse
notre compréhension du vivant et des écosystèmes.

Effect of Aging on Anticipatory Postural Adjustment and Reaction Times in
the Pre-Crossing Phase of Obstacle Negotiation
Background: Obstacle crossing is the common reason of falling in older
adults. Anticipatory postural adjustments phase (APAP) and reaction time
phase (RTP) are two important factors in falling prediction. According to
previous studies, these parameters increase in older adults at high risk
falling. This study explored the effect of aging on APAP and RTP in
obstacle negotiation. Method: Nineteen older adults (mean age: 66.73 ±
3.38 years) and twelve young adults (mean age: 26.5 ± 4.37 years),
participated in this study.

Researchers from 11 organizations have aggregated tens of thousands of
evolutionary trees into a comprehensive map of all known life, open to
all and free to use.
Scientists from 11 organizations have digitized a “tree of life,” a
genetic map of 2.3 million named species of animals, plants, fungi and
microbes that all branched off over time from a common ancestor.
In a September 18 paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of
Sciences, researchers wrote that "The Open Tree Taxonomy" is likely the
first to aggregate tens of thousands of already published smaller trees
into a comprehensive map of all life. The digital tree is free for anyone

Ancient marine animal is evolving genetically despite little change in

Scientists have decoded the first lingulid brachiopod genome, from
Lingula anatina collected at Amami Island, Japan. A new article presents
the results of their analysis of over 34,000 genes comprising the L.
