A Thank You Letter To The English Language.
September 2008 a teenage girl who was 13 at the time was in her last middle school
year, but that year was not like her previous years of schooling, it was the year that
she was introduced to the language that had completely changed her life. On
september og that year, she could finally start learning the English Language which
she had always dreamed of speaking. The only exposure she had to it was from her
aunt who used to speak it with her uncle whenever he came from abroad and little
Fatimazahra before the year of 2008 she had always told her herself, there will come
a day when I could finally be able to understand what my uncle and aunt conversed
about in English,moreover, there was something about the English Language that
she had always found it to be musical to her ear. Being Moroccan, you are in
someway or another obligated to learn the language of the French colonization. But
Fatimazahra had never liked French, she just learned it because she had to take an
exam for it and then she would throw it away at the very back of her mind because
that language had always caused her an iche to her sthomach. So sep of 2008 comes
and she walks into this classroom at a Moroccan Middle School and her first English
Teacher ever was called Mrs Samira. Ah the joy that Fatimazahra had felt whenever
she walked into Mrs Samira,s classroom was like no other joy, she would feel this
sence of peace , calm happiness all because she was learning English. In the first
exam ever Fz scored 13 out of 20 that was her first English test ever only to end the
school year scoring 20 out 20 in the English Language. FZ graduated middle school
and went to high school choosing the field of arts and humanities. Beautiful now that
means she will be learning English 5 hours a week oh my Godness that was like
heaven on earth. This years teacher was called Mr Moustafa Dirar who was another
great teacher, of course Fatimazahra never wanted to get out of the English
Language classroom…another year of success and scoring between 18 and 20s out of
20s…there comes the 2nd year of high school this years teacher was mr Mohammed
chakikh who Fz was very appreciative for as this teacher had always asked fz to write
the date and watever needed to be written of the whiteboard because fz was the
most brilient English student and this teacher had always set FZ as an example to
motivate other students…there comes the last year of highschool with Mr Khalid
Mach who of course like the previous English Teacher was a great one as well. This
years focus was more on grammer , structure and writing as English was included in
the National Bac Exam…during this year Fz continuded to score 20s after 20s out of
20s English was starting t become a peace of cake and at this stage Fz was so able to
hold coverstations fluently and had a good mastery of the four Languages skills. The
school year of 2012 FZ ended with great success of course and Fatimazahra will enter
university and this time she would not be learning English for 4 or 5 hours a week No.
This year FZ has put her feet in the Hassan the 2nd University Benmsik Faculty in the
English Department WOW Fz is finally going to be STUDYING ENGLISH she is finally
going to master a language she has always loved and excelled at on a very academic
level oh how I love English, studying English all day everyday, highly qualified
Moroccan teachers and two American ones , all students communicated with each
other in the English lamguage that was Fz LALA land
