Engineers Australia membership fees for 2026–27 range from free for student
members to AUD $855 for Fellows at the Professional Engineer level. The fees are
set annually on a financial year basis, 1 July to 30 June, and increased by up to
2.4% for 2026–27 following Engineers Australia's review of investment required to
continue delivering resources, support, and professional representation to members.

For overseas engineers planning Australian migration, Engineers Australia
membership fees matter for two distinct reasons: membership is often pursued
alongside or after a Migration Skills Assessment (MSA) to build professional
standing in Australia, and the National Engineering Register (NER), which doubles
as state registration eligibility evidence for RPEQ and equivalent pathways, carries
its own separate annual fee. Understanding the full cost structure before committing

Fees operate on a financial year basis from 1 July to 30 June. A one-off AUD $110
administration fee is payable in addition to the membership fee when you first join or
rejoin Engineers Australia.
EA Additional Membership Types and NER
Fees in 2026–27
Beyond the main grade-based fees, Engineers Australia charges separate fees for
affiliate, companion, and National Engineering Register (NER) membership. Each
serves a different purpose and applicant profile.

The NER is particularly important for overseas engineers. NER membership at AUD
$130 for existing EA members provides access to the RPEQ Assessment Letter, the
document required to apply for Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland
status. For non-members, the NER costs AUD $205 per year. Both NER fees are
annual and must be kept current to maintain registration eligibility.
Engineers Australia Membership Fee Increase
for 2026–27
Engineers Australia confirmed a fee increase of up to 2.4% for the 2026–27 financial
year. The increase followed an internal review of the investment required to continue
providing members with resources, networking events, advocacy, and professional
support.
Renewal notifications were sent to existing members from 18 May 2026. Members
were required to log in to My Account with their EA ID and complete payment by 30
June 2026 to maintain their membership benefits. Late renewals after 30 June 2026
are treated as rejoins and attract the AUD $110 administration fee.
The 2.4% increase for 2026–27 follows a 3% increase applied for the 2025–26 cycle.
Historically, Engineers Australia fee increases align with CPI and wage price index
movements, the same methodology used for migration skills assessment fee
updates. Members who also joined technical societies received a AUD $15.00
discount (excluding GST) off their 2026–27 renewal, automatically applied.

Engineers Australia Membership Fees for
International Members
International Engineers Australia membership fees are published separately in a
dedicated international fee schedule. The 2026–27 international fee schedule was
published in April 2026 and uses GST-exclusive pricing, as international members
are exempt from the 10% GST component.

Concessions and Discounts on EA Annual
Membership Costs
Engineers Australia offers concession rates and discounts to members experiencing
specific circumstances. Both apply automatically during the renewal process, no
separate application is needed for technical society discounts, though concession
eligibility must be declared.
1. Concession Rates
A concession rate of AUD $200 (including GST) is available to Fellow,
Member, and Graduate members who are: retired and over 55, in full-time
postgraduate study directly related to engineering, or experiencing temporary

financial difficulty including unemployment, disability, ill health, parental leave,
or other sufficient cause. A lower concession of AUD $135 applies to
Graduate 1–3 year members in the same circumstances.
2. Technical Society Discounts
Members who belong to one or more Engineers Australia technical societies
receive a AUD $15.00 discount (excluding GST) off their standard
membership renewal fee for 2026–27. The discount is applied automatically to
renewal invoices and does not require a separate request. It does not apply to
Asset Management Council (AMCouncil) or Royal Aeronautical Society
Australian Division (RaeS) memberships.
3. IPWEA Dual Membership Discount
Members of Engineers Australia who are also members of the Institute of
Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) are entitled to an additional
AUD $15.00 discount (excluding GST) off their Engineers Australia
membership renewal fee. This discount is separate from the technical society
discount and can be applied in addition to it.
