Today I am looking at three popular forms of games : Arcade games, board games and
puzzle games. All three forms of games have existed for hundreds of years; each is popular
among the young and adults and is famous for the skills, fun and challenge they represent.

Arcade games are extremely popular, and here is why.
Arcade games have held the top spot among players for numerous years now. As its
controllers are simple to use and the fast-moving nature and challenging elements draw

today though gaming is leaning more toward the digital side.
Popular with families who like playing games against each other but will always help each
other if there is a problem; board games are plentiful in their available options and many
have complex strategies and problem-solving abilities along with the required creative and
teamwork skills needed by players for them to succeed in a certain board game. As with
this, nearly every player can enjoy some type of board game.
Kids seem to gain a lot from board games as teachers and educators have found that kids
gain all sorts of useful skills such as logical thinking and decision-making ability.
With a lot of these abilities having to be used while playing, kids naturally absorb this
knowledge about the type of game being played, and board games also offer enjoyment in
terms of how they are played.
Puzzle games are mind-boggling.
Puzzle games are argued as being the most popular game today because they test our
brain's abilities, develop skills needed throughout life and allow us to focus. Skills such as
problem-solving, creative thought, logical reasoning, observation, pattern recognition, and
spatial reasoning are obtained. With puzzle games, people always feel a massive
achievement after finally solving a problem.
Whether it is solving a quick puzzle that is based around finding things or the complex, mind-
boggling logic/math based games; There is a puzzle game for almost everybody.
Puzzle games are able to appeal to many because even the more difficult ones are created
with advanced players in mind, and anyone that has never played them before can surely
benefit a lot from being able to play such interesting games that require the player to use
their brains a lot. This is a reason for their popularity, along with the aspect that there is so
much to gain from it.
They have a broad age appeal.
There is no doubt there is a game for every single individual and player. Children would love
the fast-paced action games with their colorful and exciting look while children would gain
the most from the calmer riddle-based board games. Although the puzzle games might not
seem like a challenge for adults, they seem to obtain a good amount of fun out of playing
puzzle games along with gaining various useful skills.
As well as being fun for kids, they can also be enjoyed by adults too, either playing alone or
against one another. Children are often introduced to arcade style games by parents as the
graphics along with the game itself are extremely simple to digest at a young age and the
child receives an amount of fun and is also learning the basic principles of thinking and logic
when it comes to puzzle based board games. It can also be argued that puzzle games are
a great learning curve when it comes to the development of skills and thought processes.
