Clinicians at LEARN Behavioral have access to a variety of norm-referenced and criterion-referenced assessment
instruments. Clinicians are expected to engage in evidence-based practice and adhere to ethical guidelines when
considering the assessments for a client. Further, it is the clinician’s responsibility to understand funder requirements.
Please reach out to your supervisor or see the funding source guidelines (SharePoint under Authorizations) if you are
uncertain of funder requirements for assessments.
Before using an assessment, it is imperative that clinicians read the assessment manual. Before submitting questions
to a supervisor or to clinical development regarding an assessment, please look for the answer in the manual. Review
of an assessment manual is the first step in training and understanding any norm-referenced or criterion-referenced
assessment.
Accessing Assessment Materials
Many assessments are available on electronic platforms (e.g., Q-Global). Electronic versions of assessment (e.g.,
Vineland) can be more efficient for administration and scoring. However, there are some assessments that are only
available via paper/pencil and some funders who require face-to-face administration.
LEARN Behavioral has a centralized ordering procedure for all assessment materials (e.g., protocols and manuals).
Dorelyn Carreon manages the inventory for the all territories - listed below. Please contact Dorelyn for ordering other
assessments. Clinical Directors should monitor regional inventory of assessments and allow time for ordering and
shipping, if applicable.
LEARN has shared usages for a Q-Global account; the inventory for the assessments completed through Q-Global (see
below) will be monitored and replenished as needed. If inventory is low, please email

Adaptive Behavior
Assessment System
The ABAS gives a complete picture of adaptive skills across the lifespan. It is particularly
useful for evaluating those with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder,
intellectual disability, learning disabilities, neuropsychological disorders, and sensory or
physical impairments.
of Basic Language
The ABLLS-R is an assessment, skills tracking, and curriculum guide for the development of
language and learner skills. It assesses skills in the areas of Cooperation, Visual Performance,
Receptive Language, Motor Imitation, Vocal Imitation, Requests, Labeling, Intraverbal Skills,
Spontaneous Vocalizations, Syntax and Grammar, Play and Leisure, Social Interactions,
Group Instruction, Classroom Routines, Generalized Responding, Reading, Math, Writing,
Spelling, Self-Help, and Fine/Gross Motor skills.
Assessment of Functional
Living Skills
The AFLS is a criterion-referenced skills assessment tool, tracking system, and curriculum
guide for teaching children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities the
essential skills they need in order to achieve the most independent outcomes.
Behavior Rating Inventory of
Executive Function
The BRIEF-P measures behavioral manifestations of executive function in preschoolers. In
addition to two validity scales, it includes five clinical scales from the original BRIEF: Inhibit,
Shift, Emotional Control, Working Memory, and Plan/Organize.

Essentials for Living
Essential for Living is a functional skills curriculum, assessment, and skill tracking instrument
for students with moderate-to-severe disabilities, including, but not limited to autism. It is
especially useful for learners with limited communication repertoires, minimal daily living
skills, or severe problem behavior. It is both an assessment and a curriculum. This
instrument is also used to develop appropriate IEP goals, and objectives for individual
education or support plans and to track skill acquisition and problem behavior.

Screening Tool
The FAST is designed to identify a number of factors that may influence the occurrence of
problem behaviors. It should be used only as an initial screening toll and as part of a
comprehensive functional assessment or analysis of problem behavior.
