■ How to Read the Bible
Effectively
■ 1. Prepare Your Heart
Pray first: Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes and give
you understanding (Psalm 119:18). Approach the Bible not
just as a book, but as God speaking directly to you.
■ 2. Choose a Good Translation
Use a translation that is accurate and understandable for
you (e.g., NIV, ESV, NLT). You can compare with others if
you want deeper meaning.
■ 3. Have a Reading Plan
Don’t just open randomly every day — follow a structure. -
Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) to know
Jesus. - Then Acts, Psalms, and Proverbs for
encouragement and wisdom. - Later, explore the Old
Testament stories and prophecies. You can use a
Bible-in-a-year plan or read a chapter a day.
■ 4. Read Slowly & Meditate
Don’t rush. Sometimes one verse can feed your spirit all
day. Ask yourself: - What does this teach me about God? -
What does it teach me about myself? - How can I apply it
today?
