An advice is an opinion that someone gives to another on the way to act or behave in front
of a situation.
1-Asking for advice
To ask for advice, you must first present your problem and then ask the question.
Example:
Problem: My girlfriend is pregnant.
Question: What do you advise me to do?
Useful expressions for asking advice
-What do you advise me to do?
-What do you suggest?
-What should I do?
-What advice can you give me?
Examples:
-I have a headache. What should I do?
-My son is not back from school. What do you suggest?
2-Giving advice
To give some advice to someone, we can say:
-I advise you to …
-You must …
-I would advise you to …
-You should …
-If I were you, I would … / If I were you, I’d …
-Why don’t you …?
Examples:
-I advise you to go and see a doctor.
-You should call the principal.
