Medical Case Summary: Car Accident & Amputation Recovery

Summary of the topic
In April 2024, Mr Jackson was involved in a serious car accident. He suered
massive bleeding and a fractured femur.
He was rushed to hospital, stabilised and immediately underwent emergency
surgery, including orthopaedic and vascular procedures.
However, despite the inial care, Mr Jackson developed a post-operave
infecon which delayed his recovery. Faced with a dicult decision, the medical
team considered two opons: connue anbiocs or amputate the leg.
Aer careful consideraon, Mr Jackson opted for amputaon in the hope of
regaining some quality of life.
The amputaon was carried out and Mr Jackson began rehabilitaon in the
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitaon Unit.
