ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATION
GENERAL PROVISIONS.
1. GENERAL
1.0 COORDINATION OF ENGINEERING WORKS :
1.1 Refer to all Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Fire Protection and Sanitary
plans and specifications and investigate all possible interference and
conditioning affecting the Electrical Works.
2.0 INTENT :
2.1 All dimensional location of fixtures, equipment's, floor outlets risers and pipe
chases shall be verified on the Architectural drawings and other drawings or
related works.
2.2 It is not intended that the drawings shall show all conduits, fittings, outlets and
boxes. All such items whether mentioned or not in the specifications or shown
or not in the drawings, shall be furnished and installed if necessary to
complete the system in accordance with the best practice of the trade.
3.0 REQUIREMENTS OF REGULATORY AGENCIES :
3.1 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS :
3.1.1 The work under this contract is to be installed in accordance with the
requirements of recommendations of the following codes and standards:
Philippine Electrical Code ( PEC )
National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association ( NEMA ) Standards
American National Standards Institute ( ANSI ) Standards

3.1.2 The work under this contract shall conform with all National and Local
Ordinances or Laws governing the installation of Electrical Work, and all such
laws and ordinances are hereby made part of these specification.
3.2 INSPECTION:
The contractor shall furnish the Owner and the local power company, One
copy each of the Final Certificate of Electrical Inspection and approval of
Electrical Work involved from the proper government authorities after the
completion of the work for service connection. The Contractor shall prepare at

his expense all AS-BUILT PLANS and all other paper works required by the
approving authorities.
3.3 TESTS :
After completion of Electrical installation and at such time as the Engineer or
his authorized representative may direct the contractor to conduct circuit
insulation, switching, and equipment operation tests and adjustments that are
required to fully and completely demonstrate that the Electrical system has
been installed and will operate in accordance with the applicable
specifications, codes, and drawings, free from any grounds, shorts, or
defects. The Contractor shall furnish all the necessary instruments, personnel
and electrical power required for all the test at his own expense.
4.0 QUALIFICATION :
Qualification of Manufacturer:
Furnish all major items of equipment and materials of the approved type by
U.L., NEMA, ANSI, ASTM, or equivalent standards, as made by reputable
manufacturers, who have at least Five (5) consecutive years manufacturing
similar types one equipment’s.
5.0 SUBMITTALS :
5.1 Within fifteen (15) days after award of contract, the contractor shall submit for
the Owner’s / Architect’s approval five (5) copies of a complete list of
manufacturer’s name of all materials they proposes to use.
5.2 After approval of the above lists and before purchase of any materials, the
Contractor shall submit to the Architect for approval five (5) complete sets of
detail information consisting of manufacturer’s bulletins, shop drawings and
spare parts list of materials to be provided under this contract. All shop
drawing shall be sign by Contractor’s Professional Electrical Engineer.
6.0 SAMPLES :
The Contractor shall submit samples of all specified herein or shown in the
drawings.
7.0 AS-BUILT DRAWINGS :
7.1 The Contractor shall prepare the AS-BUILT PLAN drawing for submission to
local enforcing authorities, signed and sealed by Professional Electrical
Engineer. The Contractor shall incorporate all the approved changes made
and noted in the marked plans.
7.2 Prior to release of Final Payment to the Contractor is made by the Owner, the
Contractor shall submit at no extra cost, a five (5) sets of the AS-BUILT
DRAWING and Originals to the Architect. The plans is duly signed and sealed
by Professional Electrical Engineer. The Contractor shall inform the
Architect/Owner that the projects are ready for final inspection. Acceptance of

works shall effect within fifteen (15) days after final inspection and no trouble
occurred during the said period.
2. ELECTRICAL WORKS
1. DESCRIPTION
1.1 SCOPE OF WORKS
The work to be done includes the furnishing of labor and materials, tools and
equipment’s necessary to complete the installation of all Electrical Work.
Refer to electrical plans for location, extent and magnitude of work and other
items of work not specifically mentioned in this Section.
1.2 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.2.1 All work shall be done in accordance with the requirements of Philippine
Electrical Code and existing local ordinances and the rules and regulations of
building Administration.
1.2.2 All concrete work, excavations, fill and backfill involved herein, shall be
carried to the required elevation, and shall conform to the Architect drawing
and specification.
1.2.3 The Contractor shall file the necessary permit to start installation works
authorities having jurisdiction over the electrical installation.
1.2.4 Electrical power supply shall be 230 Volt, 3 Phase, 3 Wire, 60 Hertz.
2. PRODUCTS / MATERIALS
2.1 WIRES AND CABLES
All wires and cables shall comply with the requirements of the Underwriter’s
Laboratories, Inc., 83-71. Thermoplastic Insulated Wires, as they apply to the
particular usage.
Wires shall be plastic insulated for 600 V working voltage. Unless otherwise
specified, the minimum size of wire shall be No. 3.5mm2 THHN. All wires
between outlets, or from Panel board to the first outlet shall be continuous
and no splices shall be made except in the boxes provided for the purpose.
Wires shall be color coded.
2.2 CONDUITS:
Conduits for the electrical system shall be of standard weight, Rigid Steel
Conduit (RSC) when use for Main service Entrance, for all embedding works

such as Auxiliary, Power and Lighting layout used Polyvinyl Chloride Conduit
(PVC) Neltex or Emerald or approved equal. Conduit hangers shall be
galvanized UNISTRUT Channel or Angular bar and steel round bar 8mm
diameter (minimum) with epoxy paint.

Other Electrical Conduit shall be painted with Gray with Stripe
approved by the Architect/Engineer.
2.3 BOXES
All outlet boxes shall be provided with suitable fittings especially designed to
receive the type of device to be mounted thereon. The Contractor shall
consult with the Engineer as to the finish of the various device plates to be
used so that the work when completed shall blend with the finished
Architectural design. All outlet boxes in general shall be 101mm (4”) square or
octagonal and shall be provided with raised cover prior to installation of wiring
devices.
For all Pull box that are exposed to the ceiling shall be Gauge # 16 galvanized
sheet steel and shall be painted by Gray.
All junction boxes, utility boxes shall be Gauge # 18 for all embedding works.
For expose use boxes Gauge # 16, they shall be of steel and of sizes
sufficient to accommodate the number of conductors entering. All boxes to be
use for C.O. shall be size 101mm x 101mm x55mm complete with raise cover
and screw to handle the wiring device plates.
2.4 RECEPTACLES
All convenience outlets shall be duplex, 10A, 250V AC, grounding type.
Where weatherproof outlet is called for in the drawings, outlet shall have cast
iron housing and screw cap cover.
Other outlet’s such as kitchen equipment and Hand Dryer outlets and others
shall be of type and rating required by equipment’s manufacturer.
2.5 SWITCHES
Lighting switches shall be flush, toggle type, 10A, 250V, bakelite case, single
pole, two pole, 3-way or as requires. Brand shall be KOTEN or TOSHIBA or
approved equal.
2.6 GROUND ROD
Ground rods shall be copper not less than 19mm (3/4”) in diameter, 3.04
meter (10’) long, driven full length into earth.
Ground wire conductors shall be of copper, solid or stranded, bare, soft
drawn. Size shall be as indicated, or when not specified, shall conform to the

requirements of the PEC. All connection shall be CADWELD method with
ground well 200mm x 200mm x 120mm with steel plate cover.
3 INSTALLATION
3.1 GENERAL
Electrical installation shall conform to the Philippine Electrical Code and the
requirements specified herein. The contract drawings indicate the desired
outing of conduits and location of outlets. Deviations from same shall be
made as required to suit field conditions. Conductor sizes indicated in the
drawings are all copper conductors.
3.2 LOCATION OF OUTLET’S AND SWITCHES:
All outlets shall be truly centered in panels and spaces provided therefore.
Any discrepancy on outlets and switch location between the electrical plans
and architectural plans, the contractor shall be submit to the Engineer at once
and verified before outlets are installed.
3.3 GROUNDING
All metallic conduits, supports, cabinets and equipments shall be properly
grounded and bounded by means of copper straps in accordance with the
given plans. The conduits of each system shall be grounded by connecting to
the water service pipe and / or equipment’s grounding.
All ground connections shall have a clean contact surfaces and shall be
tinned and sweated while bolting. Unless, otherwise specified, ground cables
shall be installed in exposed conduit and connection made readily accessible
for inspection, Cable splice connections shall not be made underground or
concealed in floors or wall.
