many grams of fat per day. We should only be consuming around 30% of our

they are in a nutritional form, such as an avocado. Don't eliminate fat completely
to lose weight, but do keep how much your are eating to a minimum.
Before attending a holiday party or dinner, ask the hostess to share the menu
with you. Once you find out what is being served, you can decide in advance
what you will eat. Draw a plate on a piece of paper and portion it out. Seeing it on
paper will make you feel committed to those portions while at the dinner. The less
you have to make spur of the moment decisions, the more likely you are to stick
to your eating plan.
Weight loss is often about making mindful eating choices. One of the best ways
to be mindful about eating is to be mindful about where you eat. Eat at a table,
with silverware and a napkin. This sounds so basic, and yet so many people eat
mindlessly, standing at a counter or in front of the fridge or the TV. But if you
restrict where you eat to the table, you are compelled to be more mindful about
where and when you eat, which will automatically limit the amount of mindless
eating you do.

Snacking is an okay thing to do, even when trying to lose weight. The important
thing to remember is not to over-snack. This is very easy to do if you eat your
food right out of the container that in came in. If you are eating pretzels for
example, count out a serving size and put that in a bowl to snack on.
If you are eating out and trying to lose weight, share your dessert. Eating out is a
treat, and it is understandable that you would not want to skip the dessert portion
of the experience. However, you can cut your fat and calories in half by deciding
that you will always share your dessert rather than eat it all yourself.
If you find that you have hit a plateau, consider whether or not your diet is as
clean and strict as it can be. If you feel like reducing any more of what you eat
will drive you to quit your diet entirely, DON'T CHANGE IT! Instead try to get in
more exercise, and push yourself harder.
Eat a rainbow of vegetables throughout the week to make sure you're getting all
the vitamins and minerals you need from them. Each color represents different
nutrients, and it also helps you keep your meals different and interesting. Losing
weight is easy when you make it fun, so try all different vegetables to see what
you love!
To significantly increase your chances of successfully losing weight, maintain
control of your serving portions. It's easy to practice portion control when you add
other healthy foods to the meal. For example, instead of going for two full
servings of lasagna, stick with just one serving and subsidize it with a nice salad
and maybe a small piece of garlic bread.
