Louie Anne Marquez Assignment Activity I Reaction Paper Chef Movie In life, we are face of different obstacles when we pursue our passion. It can come from other people or our closed ones, but it’s up to us if we will triumph despite of the challenges that we’re facing. This, for example, the movie “Chef” touches the heart of us when we strive to keep our passion going. Chef is a 2014 film, about Chef Carl Casper, who lost his job when he faced criticisms of people who didn’t like his repeated food menu that he was serving for the restaurant. Riva, the restaurant owner, didn’t want to take plan of Chef Carl to modify the menu of the restaurant, thus was heavily criticized of the food critic named Ramsay on the internet that stung Chef Carl’s career. After that, he took the initiative to get the food truck that his ex-wife was offering and when he had the food truck, he and his son helped each other to clean it. As the appearance of Martin, who left his sous-chef position, helped Chef Carl for the food truck business, their life slowly changes to adventure and learnings towards the end of the movie. In the end, Chef Carl pursued what he wanted to do from the start. This movie for me made me realize a lot of things as to where I am right now in my life. It’s not really impossible to get what you want if you really set your mind in to. Getting what we want in life is not easy, it’s given that we’re going to face challenges and hardships, but what’s matter the most is that we keep that fire burning in our heart going, because that’s how passion is. No matter what life throws us, like Chef Carl had, he had learned from his mistakes and was able to face the criticisms of people positively in the end. It’s the same for every people who has a passion. He also gave a learning to his son, “I may not do everything great in my life, but I'm good at this. I manage to touch people's lives with what I do and I want to share this with you.” when the son mentioned that the burnt food was okay to serve to the construction worker since they won’t be paying for it, Chef Carl said that was not okay to begin with, because you’re just serving the food mediocrely and not at your best with your passion. In the end, Chef Carl pursued what he is really enthusiastic about enable to touch people’s lives with his creativity towards his food. It is because of his passion that he triumphed. As the saying goes “People with great passion can make the impossible happen.” that’s what happened in the movie, and it’s true for people who never stops pursuing their dream when faced with adversities in life.
